Try the washable potty pads. They are very hard to tear up and they seem to be more attracted to them than the paper ones.

They would have to be undestuctable. This little girl tears up more than you would believe. Of course her daddy thinks she is an angel. Just blame it on those ole' schnauzers.

In all the time I have been using them I have only had one puppy chew a hole in one and it was only a hole the size of a quarter. They are almost indestructible.

We use the second nature dog litter pan (medium size) and the litter. At first Buddy did try to eat/play in the litter but we just kept discouraging him when he tried to do it and he quit. He would eat a pee pad too, so either way.. Anyway I do really like the litter, I find clean up to be much more pleasent than the pee pads. It is no fun to travel with though, that is when pee pads are easier. As far as cost is concerned I am not really sure of the comparison, it costs 20.00 for a big bag of litter and that lasts us 6 weeks. You could probably stretch it out longer because I tend to fill the box more than I probably need to.

I used to only use pads on the floor but as we all know that can get messy, especially if they miss. When I introduced them to the litterbox they were weary at first but dab a little pee from the last pad onto the new one and place it in the litterbox that really attracks them to go there. You don't need to spend money on the spary, just wiping a little pee on the new pad your creatimg a bullseye.

I bought a frame type thing that locks the pad in and holds it in place. Got it at Petsmart.

Just make sure before you invest in the washable ones that your Yorkie will "go" in the litter box. I tried everything with my pup--litter, pee pads, cloth pee pad--and it turns out she just didn't like the box. I use regular, throw-away pee pads now and she's perfectly content with them. I don't have a personal washer/dryer, so I rather just throw away the pads then take them down to my communal washroom.

Try UGODOG. It's the latest thing in indoor dog potties. It doesn't require pee pee pads or litter. You can use newspaper inside of it if you wish, or nothing at all. It's very short (1 inch off the ground), and so it is easy for even the smallest puppies to get on and off of it. The grids are designed to cushion dogs' paws and are safe to use. It costs about $40, and that's it, no more pee pee pads or dog litter or pee stains on the floor.

I wasn't too sure about the UGODOG box because some reviews say to still use a pee pad or litter in the bottom of the pan. Also, my concern with plastic holding disease in the crate part after puppy goes #2. At least I know with a pee pad or litter it can removed completely. Furthermore, where is the odor control with that? Not saying it isn't a good idea...just not sold completely on it yet.

As for associated cost with shipping Pet Food Supplies Dog Cat Bird ... PetFoodDirect.com offers great deals. It was suggested to us to use natural pine litter if we were to litter train. It costs $8.99-$9.99 for a 24lb bag on this site, which should last you a good while. We found even with shipping it was cheaper.

Smells good...not overbearing and then we even tested some pellets at a pet store to see how it worked. We dropped it in water and watched it dissolve which helped us to understand a little better the process of what happens to the pellets. I even thought about the crystals...etc. Yet, fear of the furbaby eating them made me look at some other options.

UGODOG comes with instructions on training your dog to use it. They're very similar to training your dog to use a pee pad or litter box. Also, there's a great book called House Training for Dummies (about $12 new), and it has a short but effective chapter on indoor potty training that works really well for pee pads, newspaper or indoor dog potties like UGODOG.

Good point on the No. 2 issue, but I don't see how using litter is any more sanitary than using a grate system like UGODOG. At least with the plastic grates, you can use a disinfectant wipe every day and wipe it down nice and clean. With litter it's impossible to get each piece of litter that touched the poop. And with just pee pads, those things don't absorb the pee right away and sometimes they don't absorb it completely so the dog ends up tracking urine all over the house.

Point noted...not saying it's bad...just saying not too sure on it still. I've read the information and even got a copy of the instructions on how to train using it. Saw instructions on cleaning...etc. Got a hold of that too...lol I'm a research animal!!! LOL. As for the book, yes I have read it...it is pretty good.
