Animal Smiley 019 Help puppies fighting

I'll try to make this short as possible. I have 4 yorkie puppies now. We have went from one for three years to 4 in a few months which is crazy I know. I have Tenci (my little girl 2.9 lbs), she is 11 months old now. Then there is Trouble (who weighs aprox 5lbs), he is 6 months old now. We got Tenci in November 2007 and Trouble in February 2008. With just the two of them things were low key compared to now. Trouble out grew Tenci quickly bullied her to get what he wanted. I wanted a small yorkie to play with Tenci so I found Chip (who weighs 2.5 lbs) he is 8 months old now. He looked so much like Tenci. Well in the process of buying Chip I bought another yorkie named Gus for a friend of mine mainly because I did not want Chip to fly here alone. Gus is 5 months old and weighs 2.9 lbs(but is taller). When we got them home my son fell in love with Gus and will not agree to give him away. We have had Chip and Gus for about three weeks now, and at first all was okay. Trouble and Gus played together, wrestling and play fighting. Tenci and Chip hung out together and got along great. Chip likes to mark his terrority (but that is another story).
This weekend things changed... Friday Chip had a toy and Trouble wanted the toy. Normally Trouble would just go take the toy if Tenci or Gus had it, but this time Chip snapped at him. Trouble attacked Chip and it was on. I had trouble pulling them apart. I scolded Trouble with a firm voice and told him no. He pouted a few min. then went back to playing with Gus. Saturday it happended again. This time Chip ended up holding his front paw off the ground and crying. I thought it was broke, but after holding him and loving him a few min. he seemed fine, but now every time Trouble and Chip are together they start fighting. They get along great with every one else, just not each other. I dont know what to do???? I want to stop this behavior before it gets out of control. Trouble has been nutered when he was 12 weeks old. Chip has not been nutered yet, neither has Gus. I plan to have this done very soon. Any advice would help!!! Thanks

Hi! Welcome to YT! I know males will fight if there is a female around. Tenci is 11 months old. Has she been spayed? if not, i hope you will do that so she doesn't breed with her brothers!! I think males will fight if they aren't neutered too. You may need to keep them separated until you get them fixed. If Tenci is going into heat, that could cause them to fight. Good luck!

you know when i first brought my Kaya to my boyfriends house, his mini schnauzer, Pepper, would snarl bark and snap at Kaya.
I thought she was really going to hurt her.

But i just watched them while they were around each other, and i took away all the toys (so they didnt have anything to argue about).

i know dogs of the same sex fight alot.

But now they are best friends, they sleep and cuddle and they never fight.

I think Pepper was just estashblishing a pecking order and making sure Kaya knew that it was HER house and it was going to stay that way.

Kaya is a very submissive dog so it all worked out.

I think you should just supervise them, until the bickering passes.
and dont leave them unattended so no one gets hurt

Tenci has not been spayed yet. She has not had an heat cycle yet either. I plan to have her spayed soon. My vet wanted to give her a year to loose all the baby teeth she could on her own so he could pull them while asleep for spay. One of my males (the one who weighs 5 lbs and is 6 months old) has been nutered, Chip my 8 month old 2.5 lb boy has not been nutered. I plan to have them done asap!.

I have 7 and the two males fought, so bad we litteraly had to pull them apart. I was afraid I would have to get rid of one. Well I got Toby Tyler fixed (Dakota was already fixed), and I have rolled up newspapers laying all over. I figured out the trigger for fighting at my house was when they got excited or meal time. So now, like if someone comes to the door and everyone is excited I pick up the newsapaper and slap my hand a few times to settle them or I grab one of the boys. At meal time, I put Dakota in a separate room. It all seems to be working. BUT

I never leave them home alone together. Separate them if they fight. I have a friend who came home to a dead dog, because of fighting. Good luck, look for the trigger.

I think the trigger is their toys. They do not show aggression when excited or even when they are eating. I remove Trouble (the larger one) at meal time, just because he gobbles up everyones food. Chip lets Trouble have the food with no problem. It is the toys that he will fight for. I never leave them alone, not for a min. I have watched them since I got these last two because Tenci is not spayed. While I am out I put them in their X pens. They are still in the same room but seperated. I hope getting Chip nutered will help this problem.

good luck, if you know the trigger maybe you can figure something out, and hope they grow out of hogging toys.
