I do agree an ex-pen is a great idea also when I got to go for a long time I have ever a Radio or TV playing and have some noise and something to listen to . And that makes my Babys not scared or feel so alone .

I often recommend a utility room or a bathroom with a vinel floor. I put the pee pads in one area , food and water dish in another area. Then put up a baby gate. Oh and don't forget the toys.

When we leave for about 8 hours, we put Max in the kitchen and block off the living room with a baby gate, put down a puppy pad, water, lots of toys, some bedding, and leave the radio on for noise.
