Default Peeing When Excited

Here's hoping someone has a solution.

My 16 month old puppy Meeka ALWAYS pees when someone comes home and she's excited. It usually happens when we go to pick her up to say hi, but sometimes if she's the one coming home and hears her name being called, she leaves a nice pee streak wherever she's running. We've tried not picking her up until she's gone pee, or picking her up while she's sitting on the pee pad, but there's not usually time for this in the moment of excitement.

Anyone have any suggestions about how to deal with this? I'm moving soon and don't want to ruin the new carpets.

I would invest in some of those cute little panties, alot of people here on YT sell those, I know tinkerbelle's closet has some very cute ones, I'm sure ms des does too. Maybe this is something that she will eventually grow out of?? hope someone else can help.

my little maltese, Hannahrose, did that too, UNTIL i figured out, that when someone comes over, typically, they reach down to pick them up...thats when they start dribbling. I just tell everyone, to ignore her, sit down, and let HER come to you, give her a few seconds until she calms down, and the problem stopped. its worth a try.

Tell the peoples to don't pay attention to her if she is excited . If they do , it will increase her excitation level .

Tootsie does this rather excited, scared or just for no reason...if you call her she will squat low and dribble all the way to you...some just don't grow out of it...she is almost 3 this coming June...

Chloe does this too. We're trying to do the ignore thing when people come over, but it is so HARD to make people not bend down to pet her when they come over.

Dim Sum started doing this after 4.5 months. I think he's grown out of it now. What I did while he was in this phase was ensure that he was as calm as possible when people came over and made them ignore him when they walked in.

It was hard to make them ignore him but it seems to have worked.

Hello and welcome Lucy did this and outgrew it at around 8 months. I didn't reprimand her or anything for it because I didn't want her to associate her excitement to see me with a reprimand. It all worked out in the end. I love her so much that if she hadn't outgrown it I would have just dealt with it because I am as excited as she is when I get home and love to see her so animated!

I know - I'm wierd

Yes! Bentley has been doing this since he was young. He is now almost 3 and still dribbles when he gets nervous or excited. It's mostly when someone reaches down to pick him up. The weird thing is that he NEVER does that when I reach down, it's always with others.
