Help!!!!

Maxx is ruining our furniture!!!! He is crated when we're aren't home, but he runs around when we are. I just saw right now the corner of our brand new dresser is gone!!! He chewed at it, and well yea hubby finds out I am in a LOT of trouble!!!!!

I was buying a chew stop thing the other day I tired them on myself!! Ha Ha I sprayed bitter apple on my arm and licked it, nothing.... then I sprayed bitter yuck on my arm and licked it and I almost died!!!! Soooooooo I bought that! He is still chewing, weven RIGHT after I saturate stuff with it....he chews the computer desk, couch, cables, walls, dresser.....HELP HELP HELP!!!!

I didn't have much trouble with this but Ittybit did chew on the arm of my couch and my tv cable. Honestly I couldn't find anything that worked either. So I just watched her all the time when she was out. However she stopped when her adult teeth came in. She only chews on her toys now.

A lot of people use clear gel deodorant. So far Bitter Apple has worked for us so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. Keep cords and whatever things you can taped up and out of reach. My only other suggestion is to keep him confined to one room while he's out. You HAVE to supervise him. It's a pain but there's really no other way to prevent things unless you stop him beforehand.

You might have to get an ex-pen and put him in there until he is a little older. I had mine in an ex pen until they were about 5-6 months old. Be careful of the cords, he could get electrocuted!! It's hard to watch them every minute when they are out running around!! I've also seen some people put bubble wrap around the bottoms of their furniture. If they chew on it, it makes a popping noise that scares him. Also if you catch him going to chew on something you can use a water gun and spray him in the face and say "no" or get an empty soda can and put some coins or nuts and bolts in it and tape up the hole and when you see him chew say "no" and shake the can. It startles them and eventually they will stop. It takes time though and it won't be the first items he chews!! Good luck!

Yea our apartment would look very crowded if we set up an ex-pen I have 4 panels of one set up for his potty area. Ummm all cords are up and away, since I have an almost 3 year old we are kid/puppy proof!! It's just the furniture really, and I can't hide that! The thing is, is his crate is in our bedroom....and we are in the living room, sooooo I leave the bedroom door open so he can go lay down and come and go as he pleases.....I guess I need to just shut the door or bring his crate out with us when we are in the living room huh?? GRRRRRRR I just am trying to hide the dresser thing until tomorrow I am going to Home Depot to get something to try to sand it down and re-color it? I don't know!!!

im sorry your things are getting messed up =/ when odie-man was a non-stop chewer i would punish him, wether it was being sent to "his room/bed" or a very stern voice he eventually learned. but believe me, i had my hard times with him, he ate through my power supply cords mostly to my laptop, cell phone, dvd player...now that he aint a puppy no more, he doesnt chew on random things anymore.

so how much longer till ur fur babe is an adult? maybe when he/she comes to ago they will stop =]

It was the same with my pup. Brand new furniture and the legs have bite marks on them. I watch him like a HAWK when he is out and i don't let him go near the legs. I would make a noise or get my can out. So maybe try what a poster before me said and try a can with pennies or screws, or the spray bottle or even those air bottles that you use to clean your keyboards.. Hope it works out for ya.

Invest in a puppy gate (or two) and only allow him in areas where you can watch him.

We learned that a baby Yorkie could chew up and ruin furniture, much as you have described, when we got gidget, our first Yorkie.

So, when we got Pepper and Scooter we literally lined the walls of their room with baby gates with plexiglas on the inside of them. This protected them and our cabinets and walls.

We have a pretty big laundry room and since our washer and dryer stacked it gave them even more room in there for when they were at home alone, together.

Does he have plenty of chew toys? They have those teething rings for puppies at the pet store also.

I have never had a chewer, but I have always made sure that they had plenty of chew toys. Also, I always made sure I knew where they were every minute while they were puppies.

We have had Tinkerbell for 8 weeks, since she was 8 weeks old (so she is 18wks now!)
She has never chewed anything in the house, she just pulls out her toys when she wants to sit and chew. In her toy selection there is cloth soft toys, rubber toys, treats, balls (knitted, tennis and fabric)
These seem to keep her mind busy that she looks for nothing else to chew.

Make sure when he's out that you are supervising him, otherwise I'd keep in in an x-pen with chew toys. Lacy chewed some baseboards and chairs in my kitchen as a puppy...I tried to cover those up too LOL...puppies are stinkers

OMG, that reminds me of Gypsy, she was a chewer!!! She chewed the corners of all our furniture... She had plenty of toys, bones, and attention... I would even freeze her rubber toys, but I guess her teething was unbearable!!! When ever I noticed, all I could do is laugh... Gypsy's nickname was little termite...
Eventually Maxx will grow out of it, so just be very patient!!

yup i use the deodorant to thats the only thing i found that really works
