Help--Going Potty without warning

So my Maximus has been doing pretty well up until a week ago - he was going on the potty pad 90% of the time. But this past week, I noticed two very strange things.

1) He has been going often within a short amount of time (after holding it for a few hours in his crate, he will come out and pee every 15 minutes, five times!) . I do monitor his water by having him drink on a schedule, and he does not have a Urinary Tract Infection, so I'm confused as to why he doesn't let it all go at once.

2) He's been developing a habit of going without warning! The first three weeks I had him he would sniff around and that would give me a few seconds to take him to the potty pad. But now he's been just walking, no sniffing--he stands there and just pees on the carpet without warning!

So I'm confused why he's going pee without any warning. He's only four months old and doesn't lift his leg so I'm sure it's not marking.

Any thoughts or suggestions???

Have you had him checked by the vet to make sure he does not have something wrong with his bladder/plumbing besides a UTI? He could have a stricture or something keeping him from emptying completely. If not that, he could be teething and that could be causing some of this. My Holly has been a challenge in a similar way. She never spins or sniffs to let me know she needs to pee. She used to be really good with the pee pad but lately she has been more miss than hit. She has been teething so I question if that is the cause. And the worst part is it is rubbing off on Gracie. She is 20 months old and I have had to start potty training her again. I bought some organic stuff at Petco called No-Go. Spray it on the carpet/furniture or any "no" area and it is supposed to keep them from going there. I just started using it tonight and so far, so good, only pee pad use. Good luck!

Wow I'm bumping this cause I think the idea of teething relating to potty accidents is really interesting.

My Ozzy was going on the pad 95% time up until last week. He is just shy of 5months. Well now he is a disaster..having up to 3 accidents a day! I know at his age he is teething and it is strange how it has coincided. I'm so upset at the backsliding but have read about it so many times that we are trying to be super vigilant about watching him all the time. It's exhausting though. Does the potty problem maybe also tie in with the time to neuter? He is going in, a week from Thursday to be neutered. I hope he gets back on track with the pottying!! What do you all think? Is the backsliding tied in with teething and perhaps getting to the neutering age?
