Cry What can I do?

Okay, Tucker is being WAY more difficult than I ever imagined to potty train. We have had him for a month now and he is almost 6 months old. He has yet to go potty/poop in the proper place. I bought an x-pen and put his pad and crate in there and he still insists on going on the floor. I put him on the pad and sit for hours on end watching him and he won't go. As soon as I give up and put him in his crate or let him play with Lexie he goes in his crate or on the floor. He gets his last feeding at 5:30 and last water at 7. Last night he peed and pooped in his crate and we got up and cleaned him and it at 5:30am and by the time we got up at 7 he had peed and pooped again in his crate! I have tried tieing his leash to my belt, taking him outside, writing down his poop/pee schedule (which is crazy irregular compared to my other two puppies) and nothing is working! My other yorkie Lexie (5 months) is 98% reliable on the pads with free reign when we're home and our golden Jordan who is only 4 months is 100% trained. I'm just not sure what else to do. It's almost like he won't do it when we're watching, but I have to be watching to make sure he goes in the right place. Hubby and I desperately don't want to rehome him so this is our plea for help! Any ideas, tips, tricks would be appreciated.

Wow sounds exactly like Roxie. I am beginning to think there is something wrong mentally with her. I also have been writing down her schedule to see a pattern, I am wacthing her like a hawk, keeping her in a confined area, put her in her crate when I can't watch her and the one second I am distracted (3 other dogs, kid and husband) she pees on the floor a foot away from the pad. I have never had such a difficult time training one, she just doesn;t get the concept. I think one problem is I wasn't as careful the first 2 weeks and now I am starting over. Also, She can go over 6 hours without going so watching her is a full time job, then she will go in 3 hours so it is hard to gauge when she will go. Sounds like we have the exact same problem, I hope someone can give us suggestions and hope that they will catch on.

You can't believe how good it is to here that someone else is going through this. I thought I was going nuts! I hate that you have the same problem, but also glad to have someone who shares my sorrow It is a full time job watching them because he can hold it for sooooo long. Since I was able to train Lexie so easily I fooled myself into thinking I was kind of good at this Boy was I wrong. I hope someone can help us! PLEASE! Anyone?

I take Jersee outside too and it has been working pretty good. Only problem I have is as soon as she sees one of the two cats we have she's tackling them and forgets why she's outside. My cats are about to be re-homed. LOL!

Wow.. this does sound like a difficult case. At that age they should know where to go.

I did hear somewhere that some people do not like pee pads because it gives the dog an idea that it is good to go inside the house. I guess every dog is different but maybe you should train to go outside instead.

Mine refused to ever go on pee pads..they are all outdoor trained..we have a fenced in yard but we fenced off 1/4 of the yard just for them..easier for clean up haha..we still have accidents now and then though..Reece is 1 1/2 and Soleil is 9 months old..so ya try outdoors instead..good luck..

Murfee was very easy to outside train. I never even tried the peepad thing. Every time I would see him start to pee I would grab him up and out we would go. Good luck

Update: Hubby has been taking Tucker out every half hour and so far nothing but confused looks. I hope eventually we'll get a successful potty outside. Good gracious!

You could try covering the whole floor in his ex pen with pads, so where ever he goes it will be the right place. It will get him used to going on the pads and then you can gradually decrease the size of the pad covered area until it is regular size at the end of the pen. That is how I trained my puppies and the did really well with it.
