Everyone with little boy's "HELP"

I have talked about this before but, I need help. Dusty has a problem with marking everything in the house. I keep a diaper on him at all time's in the house and that is working great but I want him to be trained the right way. I dont think it is fair to him to keep the diaper on. How did you guy's train your boy's? Keep in mind I got him when he was almost one year old so he had a few bad habit's already.

I had the same problem with Timmy and once I got him neutered the marking stopped. Now he doesn't use his belly band anymore which I am very happy about. I use to hate having to put the belly band on him all the time.

Good luck. Fortunately I have not had that problem with Murfee but he is neutered. He did it one time when we were visiting at my nephews house...oh and of course EVERY tree or bush or weed when we are on a walk.

Same here, he my nittle boy was neutered the day after I got him(5 1/2 mos)..he's never lifted his leg in the house, but, now, his favorite bush outside he will hike his leg on..

Like everyone above me stated if he is not nuetered then he should be.
It really does help.
If he is you really need to start from scratch.
Keep him gated in an area and put him on a schedule. Schedule for
potty outside is very important. I would not allow him free roam
unsupervised. After drinking water he should be taken out in 20min.
just like a puppy would and eating in about 1/2 hr.
A special treat should be given to him each time he potties outside.
Such as a little piece of liverwurst or a piece of boiled chicken.
This treat is to be used only for this purpose.
If you work during the day and he is home alone, no food or water.
You are defeating the purpose and can't expect the pup to hold his
water until he trains his bladder. He will be fine as long as he is not
in a hot house. He should not be given water in the pm for at least
1/2hr before his last walk at night which should be around 10.
Dog's love schedules and learn them fast. IMO it is the only way
to housebreak a pet. Once they are trained you can play with the
schedule within reason.

How old was your boy when you got him fixed? My vet told me that it woulnt help because he was too old. He said that after they learn it that they wont stop.

Today I tried something new. I put him on a leash and he walked every step I walked. I took him out to potty instead of letting him go roam the back yard. He didn't try to mark anything in the house today. Right now he is in his room because I need to get some cleaning done (I'm taking a breake) Do ya'll think this might work?

Yes, absolutely the right thing to do. However, where are you putting him? What is his "room". I think I would limit his space, when you can't pay attention to him, to a crate or an x-pen. This will help in eliminating opportunities to mark when you aren't there to supervise.

His room is the laundry room. 12' X 12' maybe. I lock his food and water up until it is time to eat. He has a pee pad in his room, and a bed to sleep on. He does have a very small bladder so I leave the pad. He pee's on the pad however he will not poop on it. He goes to a corner to do that. Am I doing this wrong?

I don't think his bladder is smaller than any other yorkie, he probably does not eliminate himself to the fullest extent, because he is always saving some to mark somewhere. And he may never have learned how to hold his bowels or bladder before. He was always allowed to pee and poo whenever. so you need to teach him how to hold it and you can do this by confining him in a space where going potty is NOT and option.

I would not put him in a 12x12 room. This is just too big, if you are trying to train him. When you can not keep him on the leash and supervise him, I would put him in a crate or an x-pen that has only a crate and his bed and toys in it. Make the x-pen very small so the crate, and bed take up all the floor space. Then when you have chores to do or just tired of watching him, I would take him for an extra long pee break outside, so that he eliminates most of what is in his bladder, possibly also to make him poo, then I would put him in the crate or x-pen for an hour or two at a time and work your way up to 4-5hours. You may have to leave home during those times, so that he does not whine because he hears you and he wants out.

No food or water when he is confined. You are correct about that.

He has a crate that I leave open all the time so I'll start putting him in it instead of the whole room. I wish he would just use a pad all the time instead of going outside because of the rain and cold. But during the day I have took him to the pad to go potty and he will not use it.

In the long run you will be better off not using the pee-pads. Due to his improper training, in the past, by allowing him to use the pee-pads in the house, all you are doing is reinforcing the idea that it's O.K. to pee in the house. By bypassing this and going outside, you are making it very clear to him there is only one good place to go and that's outside. I think when you differentiate between outside and inside, he will "get it" quicker.

I know it's inconvenient for you with the weather but eventually, sometime in the future, you will be able to go out there and get it done in no time and come in. (make sure when you go outside, that you are using a potty command so that he learns what it is and what you expect of him when you go out.

taking the pee pad up right now. I want to do what is best to get him trained. We are going on a trip this weekend for a week. He will not have a potty pad so this is the perfect time to start the new system.
