any training tips

My baby is 10 weeks old. He is doing well with the pee pee pads. I have been trying to teach him some basic commands. He seems to be doing well with sit, or i just could just be seeing what I want to. Any tips? Can I teach him more than 1 command at a time? or Do I need to let him master one before moving onto the next one? is he too young for this?

There is a good book called The Loved Dog. it teaches how to train your dog. She says teaching sit is the first and most important comand. After that you can go on to what ever. 10 weeks is young but you can begin and try. i took chewy to puppy school and he was just too young. He is a year and a half and he is more open to the training now!!!! LOL Better late then never.

10 weeks is not too young as long as your expectations aren't too high. At that age they may have times or days when they aren't really listening or performing well. You kinda just have to let it go and revisit it later. If your baby is doing sit well, you can introduce another behavior. But I wouldn't introduce more than 2 new commands at a time with a puppy that young. As long as you keep in short (training sessions no longer than 5 minutes or so for a pup that young) and fun (lots of treats and praise!), you should be fine! Have fun!!

I am just started yesterday to teach my yorkie to sit and lay down. He is 4.5months old. He is doing a good job too! I tried when he was younger but i couldn't keep his attention for very long, lol. It's worth a try though!! Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

I started training Gus at two months...it was easy to get his attention even at that young age because he loves treats. Keep the sessions short.
I let him get a pretty good idea of how to do a trick before moving on to another but did teach/practice the easier (sit, down, stay) ones at the same time.

Defenately teach one command at the time. If you ll teach few commands at a time it might confuse the pup. I started to teach Maxi since I got him at two and a half months old. Now he knows most of commands Its always great to teach them right away. Once you ll master one command start working on the other. Once your pup gets the other command make the baby do two commands and then give a treat. Worked for me, now Maxi does all commands for one treat

Winston and Cooper are 4 months old and doing very well with their wee pads. So much so, that they are no longer "crated" when we are not home. Although they are confined to the kitchem & bathroom.

My question -with training for them to adhere to commands such as "Sit", can they be trained together or must the training sessions be individual? What has been your most sucessful experience when you have multiple pups?

we pretty much have site down. We have started leash walking and are doing really well. At least I do well for mommy. not so well for dad or my sisters. I have been watching dog whisperer and learning as much as I can
