Question New house, peeing problems Help

I moved back to my parents place for a few month and Rocky started peeing here and there. He still uses his pee pads but not as often.
He sleeps with me all night and is fine, but once we get up he will follow me around, and then just stop randomly and start peeing. If I catch him doing it he will stop, and then I will wipe the mess and take it to the pad, he then continues peeing there.
The appartment is a lot bigger here. 3 bedrooms and big living room. Bedrooms are off limits to him dring the day.
He feels very guilty and knows that I am angry.
He is 1 year old and not neutered. But we never had this problem in my old 1 bedroom place.
Any ideas? Could it be that he is getting too much play time with my mom all day?? He is very happy now that he is with someone all day, before I would go to work and he would stay alone all day for 10 hours.

Thanks

It is very possibly behavioral but I would have him checked for a UTI just to be safe. This especially comes to mind since when you catch him and take him to the pad he finishes. If he was marking he wouldn't have interest in finishing on the pad because he never really had to go to begin with. I don't think it is from increased play although it could be if he is drinking more water because of it.

What is Uti if I may ask, and how does it come and go???

He did start lifting his leg when we go outside, but not always, most of the time he squats as always. And at home he always squats.
He was 100% house trained at the old appartment. I dont want that to go to waste.
He also peed on my bed a few days ago before we went to sleep. He felt so bad after that , slept next to my head all night and would not walk around like he does most of the time.

UTI is urinary tract infection. It is treated with antibiotics. The first symptom owners usually notice is excessive urination or going in unusual places. Those can be accompanied by excessive thirst and a pink tint (blood) in urine.

I would most definately get him checked as soon as possible (not an emergency though) since he peed on the bed. You don't want an infection going on for too long if it is that.

No pink tint in blood. Will have it checked at the doctor.

Also, having more than one pee pad, could that be a problem?
I have the main one in the kitchen, one in one bedroom where I sleep and the one in another bedroom.
I am starting to think that one is the best way to go so he know exactly where to go always.

Thank You.

Sorry, I am not the person you want to talk to about potty training. Ellie is six and still pees inside. I"m sure others will know and I know atleast a few people here have more than one pad throughout their house.

My guess would be that he's marking, and really, if he's not going to be used for breeding, he should have been netuered..this will continue..My son has the brother to my little 5 mos. old, he tries that when he comes over here, which really ticks me off..this is why they're getting him in this month to be neutered..of course, he doesn't lift his leg at their house, as he knows that's his home, but, he wants everyone of my dogs to think this is his home when he comes over to grandmas..

My question is why are these little dogs so hard to potty train. I just don't get it, my Furgie seems so smart. But I have to tell you I don't want a 6 year old still peeing where ever.

Where is Cesar Millan? Wonder what he would say about this.

Some trainers admit that they would rather train a bully breed than a Yorkie.

I have no idea why they are so hard to train. After a few years of them having accidents in the house you get used to it and admit defeat. Ellie is usually pretty good but she does go when I am gone (separation anxiety) and during the night sometimes, and when I'm not paying attention.

With an unneutered male, this will only get worse! Plus his chances of getting certain cancers are greater with them not being neutered

Default Peeing!!!

I have to admit, I am defeated on this peeing problem already and prissy has only been with us for 1 year. She will be 2 on the 27th, but I have not had her spayed yet either. She is usually pretty good, she had gone on our bed but now she will bark to get down. I found that she goes in the bathroom, like if we are in there then she decides that she has to go.. Whenever we are out of town and I have to get a sitter for her, they will block off a small area with her pad and put her in there until she goes, then it seems like she knows that's where to go. I also have pads in different areas, I would like someone to tell me if that is ok or if it's a no-no. Thanks

I have mine in 2 places, one is in the family room and the other is in the laundry room, I only let my 4 have run up to the kitchen, so they have the big family room, big laundry room and kitchen, the rest is off limits to them, but, we never go in the living room, and all thats left are 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms, so, they don't need to be down that way anyway..

i have found the excercize pen to be the best method to potty train. my girls have their own large area to live in (xpen)...they have their bed in one corner, the peepad in another, their food in another and a chewing/play area in another. its a great set up (which i picked up from the breeder). the thing is, u must be diligent and consistent. the second jaya goes on the pee-pad she gets let out and has free roam of the house. At six months she can hold her pee in, and i have found that when she has to go potty again, she simply hops into her playpen goes pee and then hops out. My xpen has a little door that i leave wide open when the girls are out of it... a few times the door was closed and jaya would go potty right outside the pen where the peepad was - so that was my fault for having the door closed. Even jenna has caught on, the second she goes potty, she comes stands by the door.

when i dont know if they've gone potty, and they are just sitting at the gate wanting to be let out, i stand near the end with the peepad and say "Go Pee". and ive found that they can go potty on command! And if they have already gone, jaya's signal is that she sits on her bed rather than coming to the peepad. The little one is still learning, and because she's only 12 weeks she can't always hold it, but its not a big deal.

I have found that as long as u are consistent, it will work. i had to be consistent for about a week for the 'go pee'-reward is free roam- method to work. But that cud also be due to her age... it may not have been as easy if she was younger (she was 5 and half months when she learned this method). Before that she got a treat and praise every time she went on the peepad. Once that goal was accomplished, i upped the reward to freedom. So then, everytime she went on the pee-pad, i'd open her gate, and sit down on the floor by it and wait for her to hop out to praise her...she'd go crazy happy. Jenna simply mimics Jaya.

Now whenever I come home, i go directly to the side where the peepad is, say "Go Pee". They pee, and i let them out. The little one I just keep an eye on. When she starts sniffing, i pick her up and put her on the peepad. A few times, i've just put out another peepad in the middle of the room and she'll know to go there.

The important thing is commitment. I have commited to using the pee-pads and that is how it will for their whole life. I can't change it on them. But then again, i live in a city where it rains all the time, so there would be no possibility for them to ever be the type of yorkie that could go outdoors.

How did you guys with nice weather teach your pups to ring the bell to go out? If i ever move, i'll still be stuck with the peepads though lol. I can't change the system on them when theyve been so great with it
