| We Need To Gather 'Round & Support Magic123 Having Double Mastectomy March 11th!!! Jomarie, Magic's mom, posted this information on my biopsy thread just yesterday. I PM'd her to tell her I'd be praying and thinking of her, give her what support I can and asked for permission to start a thread for her here for support and prayers if she doesn't know how to start one or is hesitant to do it or something. She said she would like to me start one for her as she's still working full-time and very busy trying to get ready for what's ahead. As I understand it, she's already had chemo and is now having a 5-6 double mastectomy/partial reconstruction March 11th. If I've gotten any part of the facts of her situation incorrect, she can hopefully correct me, as I'm a little kilter lately. Here is what she posted on that other thread that spoke so painfully to me: magic123: I also have breast cancer so I know how you feel. Have been thru chemo and now on March 11 I will be having a double mastectomy and I am really scared. I worry about my little Magic as my husband loves him but cannot take care of him the way I do. Just hoping I make it thru surgery. Her words broke my heart and I thought she could use all of YorkieTalk's support and help and loving words right now and she needs her own separate thread for that where she can keep us updated and get some much-needed personal encouragement.

| I can not for the life of me, understand how in the world there is sooooooooooo much moiney going into cancer research, from all the very public walks and runs and auctions and all the other donations made by hundreds of millions of people that have been touched by this disease, donations ranging from several dollars that some poor soul scrapes up and sends, to the donations made by employees thru annual drives by United Way via employers all across this country.....and we are STILL fighting this horrific disease......breast cancer seems to me, to be on the increase! I know right this second, 7 women that are undergoing treatment for breast cancer, from biopsies to double mastectomies......I am wondering WHERE all the money is ACTUALLY going.....considering all the billions of dollars Cancer research has collected from all the avenues that are donating, for all the yhears this has been going on....just seems to me the ratio of research:treatment:successful cure/prevention just does not balance out. I will certainly join in prayer for this delightful woman....my family has been slammed by this disease on several instances, loosing my father to lung cancer. My dearest friend just underwent this same surgical procedure a month ago....praying for a speedy and complete recovery from her surgery and treatment....for strength to face what must be very frightening to her.....I would be terrified. Of note, her concern is for the well being of her precious little Magic.....such compassion for others, including her little pup, around her...... Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 03-01-2014 at 11:13 AM. |

| Jonmarie, I posted in Jeanie's thread, that Sheila & I will keep you in our prayers. And we will definitely do so. Sheila was more worried about our infant son, than having her surgery, just like you are more worried about your little Magic. But he'll be fine, and I suspect, like your husband, he will do as I did with our girls, when Sheila had more surgery in 2006, he will go out of his way to take extra special care of Magic, because he knows what Magic means to you. | I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. And to Rich and Sheila God Bless You as to what you both have been thru and with a baby on top of it must of been just awful. I can not even imagine if one of my children was young what a nightmare this would be. I wish you and your family nothing but happiness because you all deserve it. I appreciate every ones prayers as I believe in the power of prayer and I need them now more than ever. Just want this surgery to be over and then I will be able to start dealing with what comes next. |

No thanks is necessary. We truly understand. Yes, having a baby, made it so much worse. If it is any comfort to you, Sheila's best-friends Mom had breast cancer 11 years ago. She had a double mastectomy, she is 84 and cancer-free. We also believe in the power of prayer. Sheila struggeled with MS, but could not get a diagnosis-but our entire church prayed for her, and she finally got her diagnosis in 2011. Her MS Specialist said based on her symptoms, she's had MS since at least 1998. So, we wiil keep you in our prayers, and pray that you remain cancer-free for the rest of your life. Rich | |

| As having had bc myself I understand the anxiety and fear you have. It is so cliche (sp?) but you both are very strong and will take this journey one day at a time. In years to come you will think about this less and less. I wish you the best for a speedy recovery.
