| Oh dear! I hope Sheila continues to feel better! That stuff makes me itch too! Can she take anything like Benedryl to help with it? Praying daily for you both... Love and Hugs, Kathy

| Checking in on you both and sorry to hear Sheila was having a major MS flare and return of itching. That's the trouble with that medication, you can't seem to plan or know when it will return. All Sheila can do is try to take something to help it like Benadryl or the Hydroxyzine HCL or cut back on the amount of medication for a time. I hope she feels better for Easter Weekend!!! And my prayers for healing and renewal continue for Sheila and you, Rich.

I answered your post, but I must have forgotten to hit "enter" because I don't see my response. Sheila is not supposed to take Benadryl-it increases her heart rate, but this morning, she said, "Nuts with it!" & took an allergy pill, and within the hour, she stopped itching. Thank you so much for praying daily for us. Prayers mean everything to us. Love & Hugs, Rich & Sheila

Thank you, our dear friend. Sheila is pretty well over the MS flare, although her muscles in her right hip, thigh, and leg still have that bruised feeling. We were surprised that the itching returned. Sheila is not supposed to take Benadryl, or any OTC's, but this morning, she said, "Nuts with it!" and took an allergy pill, and within the hour, the itching stopped. She said the oxy relieves the pain in her spine, enough to cope with itching. She has an appt. with her DO on Monday, and she is going to ask him to prescribe the Hydroxyzine HCL. She is only taking 2.5 mg. 3 times a day. She's tried cutting back, but then, she is in pain again. Jeanie, thank you for your continued prayers. Oh, before I forget, Sheila asked me to tell you, when it is time for you to have your colonoscopy, don't let them give you SUPREP. She said it was the only bowel prep. that made her severely ill. Jeanie, you are always in our prayers. We wish you a joyous Easter. Rich

Hopefully that Hydroxyzine HCL 50 mg. will help her as it does me. I just take it every so often but when I do, it really helps me stop itching and I just go off to sleep within the hour. I'm so glad she's getting some relief form the oxycodone - even a mild dose is far better than nothing, itching and all. I will remember that prep name and steer well clear of it, Rich. Be sure and thank Sheila for remembering that name and passing it on. We girls have to stick together and share war stories to stay ahead of the game. I've got it on my calendar to call Monday and schedule my - groan - test. God bless you both and have a Blessed, Happy Easter. Love, Jeanie

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Sorry to hear Shelia went through a recent flare up. I hope the doctor will give her what she needs to reduce the itching and make her feel better. We are on puppy watch for Brandi. She got her maternity cut today, X-rays tomorrow. And hopefully those pups will wait for Friday. And tomorrow Ladybug goes for her ultrasound so we will know how many and when she is due. And Brandi says don't forget about me.... |

Thank you, we spent a quiet Easter Sunday. Sheila said, she missed always serving in her Ministry on Easter. Maybe next year..... She asked me to thank you again, for giving me the name of the medication to stop the itching. It's strange.....today she wasn't itching. Did you know they also prescribe that medication for itching in MS? She said she never thought too much about her itching, but now she definitely wants a prescription. Sheila said you're very welcome, and she said "Jeanie is right, we girls have to stick together". She's had far too many bowel preps, and while the preps are miserable, she said the SUPREP is one she'd never use again. Her G.I. wrote it in her file. God Bless you, Jeanie-we hope you had a blessed Easter and are now fast asleep. Love, Rich & Sheila

I'm sorry, I got on here late, and missed wishing you a Blessed Easter. I hope your day was filled with joy. Sheila is feeling better, except her left hip joint, and her leg, ankle and foot are swollen. She has an appt. in the morning with her DO. I suspect, she was up and down the basement stairs last Saturday-a friend bought her 1st home, and Sheila is giving her a lot of things for her home. We're both really impressed with her, buying a home. Thank you for always keeping us in your thoughts & prayers. God Bless you, Dyan. Love & Hugs, Rich & Sheila

Thank you-Sheila has been pretty upset about our dear friends. Actually, they are more family than friends. They live across the street, but are now both in a nursing home. Kay's Alzheimer's got to the point that her husband had to put her in a nursing home, and now John is there, as well, dying of cancer. Kay and Sheila did everything together, and I had gone up there and Kay didn't remember me. It upset Sheila pretty badly, brought on the flare. As soon as her DO gives her the prescription, she wants to visit Kay-she said, "I know my Kay, she will know me". They are 20 years apart in age, but you would never know it. Sheila has the girls due dates marked on the calendar. We haven't forgotten about Brandi. She said Brandi is due the day after her best-friends birthday, and she & Terri both said, "Wouldn't it be something, if Brandi had her puppies on the 24th?" Betsy Ross is due the day before Terri's younger sisters birthday. So, you know what these 3 ladies are thinking. LOL We're anxious to hear how many puppies Ladybug is expecting. (She has her ultra-sound on the calendar, too.) We hope you had a Blessed Easter. And a relaxing day.....because you're going to need it. Rich

I hope the Hydroxyzine HCL(generic for Atarax) works for her as it does me and didn't know it was prescribed for MS itching! I had never taken another nerve medication like that other than Diazepam and was scared to take it while I was hospitalized after hip surgery but finally the itching got so bad after I came home on that post-op pain Rx., I just had to try it. I took a baby dose of it and it seemed to help and finally worked up to a whole pill. I save it for only the worst of times and mostly just cut back on the amount of pain Rx. over taking it but it's there for the bad times. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers - sending them right back to you two with much love. Keep us posted on how you are both doing.

Sheila's DO prescribed Atarax for her itching. He said her itching is due to hr MS. She admitted to him, that she had been up and down the basement stairs more than a few times, and had washed down the washer & dryer, then noticed the floor around them looked dirty and decided to wash it, as well. He examined her-she injured her sciatic nerve. So, he has her alteranting between resting with her leg elevated, and doing some gentle stretching. He reminded her, "Your back is fragile-you will never have the muscle tone you had before MS". Yes, we are on "puppy-watch" with Dee and she is watching for a tiny girl for Sheila. Dee has been wonderful-keeping in touch with us. So, hopefully, we'll have some exciting news to announce. Thank you so much for keeping us in your thoughts & prayers. Love & Hugs, Rich & Sheila

Sheila is very determined to return to her Ministry by Christmas....but she always says.... His Wil, not mine, His time, not mine. Her DO prescribed Atarax this morning. He didn't feel her itching was due to the oxycodone, but to her MS, because she has experienced itching off and on before. He prescribed a small dose. 10 mg. as needed. And he examined her and said she injured her sciatic nerve. So, he has her alternating bewtween keeping her leg elevated and doing some gentle stretches. He told her that her back is fragile, and she will never have the muscle tone that she had before MS. She also takes Diazepam for her neuropathy, that is due to her MS. Nothing else has ever given her relief. Her neuropathy was diagnosed at the Cleveland Clinic and they were pretty shocked to see someone with neuropathy in their thighs and legs. The muscular neuro said they had never seen anyone with it in those areas. Sheila smiled and told her, "I have always been unique". Hate to ask, but Sheila wanted to know if they scheduled your scope, because she wanted to be sure to pray while you are going through the prep and the scope. She said she dreads it for you. Thank you for your thoughts & prayers, and we also send them back to you with our love. Rich & Sheila
