Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Surgery on Friday... Hi all. I'm having my tonsils out on friday. 'Nervous' is a severe understatement! I have been so incredibly sick this past year. and I sing and I lost my voice in March and never really got it back, and I have some hearing loss. It's all being attributed to the horrible tonsils I've had for quite some time, so hopefully once they're out everything will be taken care of! I've been reading A LOT about experiences people have had with the surgery, and I'm absolutely dreading the recovery. I'm terrified of what it's going to do to my (singing) voice because my doctor warned me that there is a possibility it will become nasal-sounding (which I'm already at risk for because I had a cleft palate when I was born), so I'm really praying that doesn't happen. and I have 0 pain tolerance, and I've read that the pain can be horrific, so I'm nervous about that as well. I'm anxious about going back to school. this is the earliest date I could get for the surgery, and school starts on the 2nd. I really want to go back on time, but I've heard people generally take 2 weeks off. :/ and really just the whole thing in general is scaring the heck outta me (if you couldn't tell by this spastic-sounding post! LOL)!! If you could send some prayers or good vibes my way I would so appreciate it! forgot to add - I'm also having a skin tag/tumor thing removed from my ear, and there is a good chance that it is malignant. so some good thoughts that it's benign would also be appreciated! Love to you all.

| I had the surgery when I was younger....probably under 10 yrs old. I don't remember it being a very unpleasant experience. I loved the fact that they made me eat lots and lots of popsicles I think you will be just fine! Sending lots of hugs and prayers your way!

| Well I never had my tonsils out...but I did have a nodule on my thyroid removed. I had a very sore throat and no voice for a few days. My husband was thrilled! At most it was more annoying than painful. I was nervous also, but it was not nearly as bad as I had imagined in my head. Just try to relax, best you can..and I will send prayers..good luck.

| Wishing you Godspeed for a full recovery and sending prayers up in your behalf. My story is probably a bit different that most you've heard. I had my tonsils removed my senior year of hs after being sick it seemed like forever. I had just recovered from mono and had recently had all 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed. Well anyway, 2 days after my tonsil surgery I ate a Burger King Whopper and fries with no problems . I guess I recovered lickety split. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Thanks guys. I'm doing really, really well I think. It's day 5 after the surgery and today I ate some noodles and bread LOL. I've been living on pudding and gaterade (yum.... ), so it was really good. I'm not taking any pain medication. 1, cause I hate medicine and avoid it unless it's totally necessary. and 2, cause for the 2 days I took it I was horribly sick. I'm not in very much pain. It's just uncomfortable most of the time. I've been nauseas since I woke up from surgery, and today was the first day without that, so I'm VERY grateful to be past that point! I'm kind of really dreading these days of "unbearable pain" that I keep hearing about. Supposedly they come around the one week mark when the scabs are going to come off. I can feel the scabs in my throat (sorry...TMI LOL), so I can tell that it's getting close. so I'm getting anxious. But hopefully I'll live to tell about it! Cindy - you are something else, my friend! that is amazing! haha. Today I saw a round of commercials for burger king, ihop, and red lobster and I almost cried LOL. I want real food sooo bad! I'm incredibly envious of you. I had mono a couple years ago, and that was 10X worse than this! hartygirl - OUCH!! thanks for the tip! I really miss fruit. I would give anything to sink my teeth into an apple right now! haha. I think I'm going to wait a month or so before I eat fruit. thanks so much for the concern and love guys. I really appreciate it. yesterday/this morning I kind of had a break down and was being ridiculous saying it was never going to get better (really Megan...it's been 5 days ) but I'm done being a drama queen (can you believe it?) and I'm feeling pretty good!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am glad you are on the mend and hopefully the worst is over or close to being over. When you feel better go treat yourself to your favorite meal.
