| Looking for Female Teacup Yorkiepoo in AL I have recently fallen IN LOVE with a friend's yorkiepoo, and after a lot of research and thought...... I MUST HAVE ONE!!! To be more specific I am looking for a female teacup yorkiepoo to love. I will be graduating from the University of Alabama in May, and she will be a graduation present! With that being said... I/my parents can only afford to spend about $350...So my question now is... Does anyone know of a reputable breeder somewhat close to the Birmingham or Tuscaloosa area? I would be willing to travel approximately 3 hours. Any help with my search would be greatly appreciated! |

| Welcome to YT!!! Have you considered a rescue pup? I ask because you have some pretty specific criteria. You say you want a "teacup" which I'm going to interpret to be a really small dog. The adult size of a puppy is one of the hardest things to guess, and yes I do mean guess. If you for sure are only open to the tinnies then I suggest you get an adult dog. That's the only way to guarantee size. Try Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder and just fill in your area and breed choice. Good luck on your search!

| I'm just going to go ahead and tell you this before a bunch of people come on and jump down your throat! First of all, there is no such thing as a teacup...that is a term that certain breeders use to sell dogs! A size can be approximated like was said in the comment above but anyone who calls their pups a teacup is only trying to reel you in hook line and sinker! Second, you may get a ton of people who will come on and tell you that no reputable breeder cross breeds (ie. Yorkiepoo a yorkie poodle mix) and many will call them "mutts" as discussed at great length on another thread today! So if you are looking for a yorkiepoo this might not be the best place to find one because chances are not only are they not going to recommend a breeder you might get educated harshly on why you shouldn't even want one! Also, $350 is really REALLY low even for a rescue dog! So my advice to you is to do some research and really look into yorkiepoos versus yorkies and be open minded to the research and the people who may give you heated advice here shortly! They know what they are talking about having seen it all! I just wanted to come on and give you the heads up! I hope you stick around and between you and me hope you find what's best for you after weighing all the advice, research and options! If you need anything please feel free to contact me via PM (private message!) hope to talk to you soon! Good luck with your search! :-) |

| I agree with the previous 2 posts regarding teacups and mixed breeds. Both of my dogs are rescues, one is a yorkie and the other is a yorkiepoo. It is possible to find a yorkiepoo at a shelter and may I recommend checking petfinder.com everyday. Also to add, my yorkiepoo is 12lbs. Unless someone specifically bred a toy poodle with a yorkie, you will most likely end up with a dog much bigger than expected. Even if you go the route of a breeder, it is very difficult to predict what the mixed breed pups will look like as adults.

| First off, welcome to YT from one AL resident to another. I would suggest taking your time and doing a little more research on the breed (or in this case, both breeds) before actively trying to acquire one. As maryeverret pointed out, there really is no such thing as a teacup. It's more of a marketing term used by shady breeders to describe dogs bred to be extremely small. (Just a hint, reputable breeders breed for health, temperament and structure, not grossly small sizes. ) It's generally one of those things that Yorkie enthusiasts warn against. Also, if your funds are limited, you may want to consider looking into adopting a rescue or checking with breed specific rescue groups. (Lots of great pets in need of homes there too.) Pups are generally expensive for a reason. By the time you factor in the costs of the dogs, registration fees, whelping and grooming supplies, vet bills, vaccinations, food, medical tests, etc...well, as you can imagine, it adds up quickly. I would be very suspicious of any breeder who asks for such a small amount...makes you wonder what corners they are cutting, ya know? Yes, YT is full of people who have been there, been in your shoes, made mistakes, learned along the way...in other words, just about anything you can imagine. But, if you truly want to get various opinions and a load of helpful information, it's a great place to be. Just don't get discouraged. Be aware that you have posted on somewhat of a hot topic and may not get the responses you necessarily want to hear, especially when you have your heart set on something. It can be disappointing to be told that there is more than meets the eye to certain situations. |

| It's a test. If you can see how cute they are behind the un-brushed hair, then you are definitely a candidate for adoption.

| I just want to thank all of you for your advice. I have taken it all into consideration and done A LOT of research this past week. I have found a puppy that I will be getting in two weeks! She will be 12 weeks old when I get her. Her mom is a toy poodle (4 lbs) and her dad is a chocolate yorkie (6lbs). More importantly, the breeder only has this one pair...so NO PUPPY MILL or other unhealthy situation. Again, thank you all for alerting me to possible problems I should look out for. Now... Any advice/tips/pointers for taking extra special care of my baby when I get her? |
