| Puppy Pal Program This is to Admin: If we aren't allowed to exchange information, then how are we supposed to get to know other people. I understand what you are saying, but there are a lot of people interested in this... For those like me, who are relatively new, I don't know a whole lot of people. Therefore, I don't have a list of email addresses that I could send letters to, etc. Why don't you set up a poll to see how many people would be interested in the puppy pal program and then organize it yourself? So that everyone would know about the poll, maybe you should post a link in the general forum. I think if you were to take a poll, you would see that there are more interested folks than non interested.... Just my opinion. |

This is what admin had to say about the idea: "While we think this may be a great idea, we at YorkieTalk do not feel comfortable with someone outside of the YorkieTalk team handling anything that may involve money or gifts. We have experienced problems with non YorkieTalk Staff members handling YT events in the past, and we will not let it happen again. For any events that are related to YorkieTalk or its members, we can not just allow anyone to start activities or events on our site that may damage our reputation or cause problems for our members. We are not going to allow an activity that may involve a YorkieTalk member not getting something while they do send something. Since this idea was never approved by YorkieTalk directly, we are unable to let this thread and idea continue. We may look into this idea in the future if there is enough interest. As always, you are always free to give any gifts or send any emails to anyone you would like, we have no problems whatsoever with that. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank you. -Admin" They wanted to know if there was enough interest, so I thought that a poll would be a good way to determine if there were plenty of people that were interested. I know that there were a lot that posted on the original threads, I am not sure how many, so I know that there was interest in the idea. I just don't know what constitutes "enough interest" in admin's opinion.....

| ummmm, because this site isn't set up for a "puppy program".. plus you can PM eachother.. I wouldn't want my info broadcasted on the internet. Plus someone mentioned that it's to raise money.. what are we raising money for?? Why do we need to raise money?? The whole point of this site is so that everyone can participate, wether or not you donate. Plus, don't you know that admin already does 13847398473 million things, that the last thing he needs is another "project" to oversee I mean.. i already think all these business that get started on YT or because of YT is a little too much.. I've had problems my self from ordering stuff from members on here.. I wouldn't do it, nor would I want anyone handling money like that through a puppy pal program. P.S... this is just my opinion Last edited by Dena; 02-16-2007 at 12:48 PM. Reason: typo |

Administrator | You are free to exchange your information with anyone you would like. No one is stopping you from that. YorkieTalk members may post threads, add attachments, post photos in the YT Photo Gallery, or Privately Message (PM) other members as long as they stay within the YT Guidelines (no spam, no personal attacks, etc). Talking about you and your Yorkie with everyone through posts and pictures can help with making friends, which is what this community is all about. However, as we stated earlier, we can't allow someone outside of YorkieTalk to handle any YorkieTalk events or functions that involves money or gifts for many reasons, including the fact that they are using the YorkieTalk name, they could be harming YT members, and the fact that people have abused the trust of YT members in the past. There are also privacy issues and we want to make sure that the privacy of all of our members is safe. There are also many members that just come onto YT for a few months and then just leave out of the blue. When we put together the YT Gift Exchange, we put in many safeguards, to ensure that each and every person that participates will get a gift. In fact, YorkieTalk guarantees that each person will receive a gift, even if their Secret Buddy fails to send a gift, YT will fund the gift and ship it to the participant. We would hate to see any program where there may be potential problems and it is in the best interest of our community to make sure someone on the YT staff oversees and runs the program to minimize all potential problems. Thank you for your feedback. If there is enough interest, we may look into starting up such a program. |

| if getting this started means that we cannot offer gifts or money for those that donate to YT, then so be it. there does not have to be money involved.

Someone suggested helping to raise money for yorkie talk, but that was later vetoed, so as not to keep anyone from being able to participate. It wasn't going to be a requirement to donate, we wanted everyone to be able to join in.... I know that admin has a million things to do. He wasn't being asked to take care of it. Pepemint volunteered to organize the whole thing. Admin is the one who said she couldn't... Maybe you should read over the original threads.... This was the original, the first: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=puppy+pal Then this one, presenting the idea to admin: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=puppy+pal Then this one: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=puppy+pal I started this one to bring a poll to admin's attention as a suggestion, and I put one in the general forum so that everyone would know this one was here.... This is all in fun

| I read the first few threads of those... I just look at it as YT is the big puppy pal site.. You get to share everything and anything you want with everyone.. rather than just one person.. and you can be involved in the GE if you want. |

| well, it looks like you can all pm each other with email addresses and set this up on your own, just not to be associated with YT. Since a bunch of you already want to do this, why not just go ahead, just off-site of YT. Pepemint can still oversee it, since she has most of the info. I don't really see the issue here...I guess. I do see why YT couldn't be responsible for this, what with gifts being exchanged and such.

| No offense to Mapetty or Pepemint but you both just joined in December. Why not participate a while longer, join in the next gift exchange. Try the way things are before suggesting a reinvention of the wheel. No way in the world would I be sending money, gifts, and all of my personal information to people I don't even know and haven't been associated with YT for long. I think you have to see Admin's point of view on this and move on.

and i am not trying to "reinvent" the wheel, i simply thought it would be something fun. no-body would have to send their personal information if they did not want to participate. if you don't want to, then don't. period. but it's done. we are not going to do it through YT so let's just drop it. i was only trying to do something fun with other members, what is so bad about that? admin nixed it and that is their decision to make. so we move on..
