Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Section for Introductions/Welcoming? Hey Admin! I've been noticing a lot of members lately saying that they feel ignored, like they arent part of the tight group of friends we have here. I think its really unfortunate (and true), and so I was trying to think of a way we could work on that problem. On every other forum I'm on, there is a seperate section where new members (or members new to posting) can come on and introduce themselves. I think its a great way to keep people from feeling left out. It gives people a chance to talk about themselves, their interests, why they're here, etc., which helps other people realize what they have in common with them, which gets them some friends. On a forum this large, a lot of posts are accidently missed or skipped over -- especially if they're from a member we're not familiar with. I think having a seperate section just for people to introduce themselves will keep us from missing those posts, so they will feel more wanted. Just a suggestion I thought I'd throw out there!

| Here is a thread from awhile ago: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85419 I really like this idea though. Threads are lost so easily in general discussion. I just bumped up a question that was on the sixth page of general discussion and it had zero responses. I wonder if new members' threads ever get bypassed like that.

| Great idea! I know that I felt like an outsider when I first came here. I think a separate section would be a perfect place to introduce new members and they won't get "lost in the crowd".

Administrator | Thank you for your suggestion. We feel that newcomers will get more exposure by posting in General Yorkie Discussion or in My Yorkie Pictures and they will more easily integrate with the community this way, instead of having a separate section just for new members. Members can always seek out threads with just a few replies and read and respond to those threads. |
