| Allergies at 11 weeks? Is that possible? Our Yorkie has been home with us for five days now. He's adjusting very well, but I've noticed he's constantly scratching and biting his feet. Could he have allergies? I thought dogs didn't develop allergies until they were about 2 years old. I'm praying this isn't the case. We had to put our last dog down this past July because of severe allergies for which we could find no relief. I had hoped to avoid getting another "allergy" dog, but it seems to be too common these days. He's eating Solid Gold puppy kibble. Also, I have noticed on several occasions when I get him up in the middle of the night to go potty that his nose makes a funny sound. He sounds like someone with a congested nose that's runny at the same time and he's sniffing the mucus back in. It's not the "reverse sneeze." This sounds like it's coming from his nose, and I notice it only in the middle of the night. He's been sleeping on the Pet Blanket, and I'm wondering if he's allergic to it. So I removed it and put a soft towel in his crate. Any of this sound familiar? |

| Our golden retriever had skin allergies at 6 months old, it may be different for this breed tho. It was easily relieved with steroid medication, but they made him a BIG boy.

| Our last dog was on steroids, and that didn't help. Plus, dogs cannot remain on steroids all their lives. It will slowly kill them. I'm going to be so upset if our new puppy has severe allergies, and I will be very upset that breeders continue to breed dogs with allergies! I don't want to go through this again! |

| Have you tried wiping his paws after he comes in from outside (with baby wipes)? That may help if it is allergies to grass or other things outdoors. Solid Gold is a great food with little or none of known common food allergens. What kind of shampoo are you using on him? Some pups have a difficult time with various shampoos as well? Hope your little guy gets some relief soon.

| Have your vet look at your baby to make sure. Is he eating a food that he was not eating at the breeders? He could be allergic to fleas/ticks? Cozy will scratch if she has a tight knot that is uncomfortable.

| I talked to the vet, and he gave me a bottle of Relief shampoo to try twice a week. He said based on what I said, Logan's scratching and paw chewing is "excessive" and not merely grooming. He also said it could be allergies. After having to put our Maltese down just three months ago due to severe allergies, I didn't think I'd ever want another dog again because I didn't want to risk going through the allergy nightmare again. But I finally gave in, and now we haven't even had our puppy for a week, and we are going through allergies again....only YEARS before we started with our last dog. It kinda feels like someone is playing a cruel joke on us. No fleas or ticks noted. |

| He has not been to the groomer yet. However, the breeder, who is a vet, has a groomer in his clinic, and she bathed him and cut the hair around his butt and eyes before I picked him up. Logan has had some of his shots. He goes back for more in two weeks. I have read articles that claim we are over-vaccinating our pets, and that is why so many have allergies. I am beginning to think there is some merit to that. |
