| My little man The other day I came home to have Dex run and meet me at the door with a toy in his mouth as soon as I bent over and threw it he did not chase it I noticed his left paw was raised as I leaned over to reach for it; his head jerked towards me and his body went completely stiff like we was a statue and fell over on his side as soon as he fell he let out a horrific cry, whimper, howl a sound I have never heard and his bowels let go completely.. Thank G-d I only live 5 blocks from the vet and went running with his stiff body in my arms his eyes were closed.. when we got there I finally felt his back legs move.. I thought I had lost him.. They have run all types of blood work and other test.. everything is checking out a-OK.. SO what was it.. what made him do this.. has anyone else ever experienced this.. he is running and playing now like nothing ever happened and was only 4 days ago.. I am so thankful but nervous now.. |

| They can certainly scare the heck out of us can't they! Please do keep us posted, and crossing our fingers all is ok.

| OH gosh... I would pee my pants, did they check for stroke or seisure? I hope he is ok. If he happy now than I wouldn't worry much. Pretend he was just being dramatic about a not-so-serious injury.

| Please keep us updated on his progress. I'm glad the vet didn't find anything seriously wrong with him. Maybe he just sprained his leg from jumping on or off something.

| There was no signs of muscle sprain, no signs of pain and no signs of stroke or seizure.. that is what scares me.. I literally thought i was watching my little man pass and he is only a little over year and a half.. he is fine playing ball but am terrified |

| No stroke or seisure? I'm sure its nothing to be worried about then... I'm the same way, I worry myself to the point of making myself sick sometimes. Just tell yourself it was a random freak episode and he's fine now.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | HOW scary!!! Loss of bladder or feces is usually due to a temp. loss of consciousness or seizure or something. If he had hurt his leg, perhaps it was touched just SO, the pain was so great, he passed out, lost his feces - then came to. What a mystery. Did they do xrays?

| Yes they did xrays and ultrasound to double check for liver shunts.. though he was tested as a baby.. Has anyone ever heard of constipation causing something like that.. A friend told me that she has heard of that before.. I am trying to remember if he pooped that day before the rest.. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Well, an actual obstruction can wreak havoc - even cause death. Obstructions, like a lot of "gut" issues, can cause "referred pain" - meaning the episode is down here, but it hurts up here. Sort of like in humans - when they have gall bladder issues, their right shoulder can have severe pain. Do dogs have gall bladders I wonder....? So, if perhaps his body was working through severe constipation, he could have had severe pain - but my goodness, the reaction was so severe!

| You just explained what I had experianced with Babybear the first time he had a episode with his AAI(Atlantoaxial Instability) did they do any digital xrays?? I know they die xrays but what did they xray?? See if they can do a digital xray of his neck. To check his verabrae. This would cause what you saw him do. Babybear broke his neck because he was not diagnosed with AAI. I was told he had a pinched nerve in his neck and send home with meds. When he should have been going in for surgery to have his neck corrected. All his blood work came out fine. Until he went stiff let out a yelp like you would not believe and then he lost everything urine/poop everything. Just ask your vet if there is a possibablity this could be what is going on with your baby. Please keep us updated. After the first time Babybear had his little episode he was fine the next few days running around like nothing was wrong also. He did this for two months. If you have any more questions about this you can pm me or i would be glad to answer them right here.
