| Father and son Nueter party Sunnie, my 3 year old yorkie and his son Beamer (6 months old) are BOTH scheduled to get nuetered on Friday. (poor babies) Sunnie should have been nuetered a long time ago, but it kept getting put off for some reason or another. Since he fathered Sunshine's baies, we don't want that to happen again. Of course we had Sunshine spayed after she ended up having a c-section. Beamer has only had one testicle decend, so better safe than sorry. Hopefully they find the other one just kicked back and relaxing waiting for the vet to remove him. lol My question, since almost every dog I have ever owned has been a female... How uncomfortable will it be for them right after surgery? And how long does it usually take to recooperate? Have any of you ever had two done at the same time? Am I just totally CRAZY to have scheduled them together? Thanks.. Sonya

I've never done two dogs at the same time, but I would think you're gonna be OK. They drug them up for the first few hours, and they don't want to do much. Then they recover pretty quickly and will want to move around. But if you're home with them the whole time, you should be OK. It's a good thing you're doing for both dogs.

LOL.. I had to laugh when I saw your GASP! I can imagine that you experienced a somewhat "protective" urge in reading that title. lol Sunnie is usually pretty laid back and I don't think he will be a problem. Beamer on the other hand can be (and usually IS) a little lover one minute, then turns into "yorkieboys fron He**" the next. So this ought to be interesting. Sonya

| I also wondered if they use a cone collar after the nueter? or is there something else that can be used instead?

| Gizmo's neuter was this past Friday. Friday night he was uncomfortable and we went back to get him some pain pills. After that one dose, he didn't need any more. He did lick some the first night, so we put a baby onesie on him upside down and unbuttoned a snap for his tail. (Some people cut out a place for the tail.) He didn't have to wear it the next day. On Saturday he was much better and on Sunday he was almost back to normal. We "tried" to keep him from jumping, but weren't always successful. Today he's a little tiger! LOL! Good luck to both your yorkie boys!

| Thank you Judy, I will be sure to ask about pain killers. Sunnie is such a sweet boy and just looks so pathetic if he is in pain. And Beamer is still a baby. He is going to freak! Sonya Quote:
