| Zoey's bloodwork shows problems!!!! I just went through all the paperwork from Zoey's spay yesterday. When I looked at the bloodwork I saw that 2 tests were elevated. ALT and BUN. I looked online and it says these levels relate to liver problems. There is also a handwritten note on the bottom that says recheck ALT in 2 months I am so scared. I called the Vet and they are supposed to call me back. This is terrible. I wonder why they didnt mention it yesterday? I hope it is nothing serious. Does anyone know anything about these blood tests.

| Sometimes they look at tests a few times before they give you an answer. Lets hope its just precaution on the vet's part. Keep us updated. Get well Zoey! |

| Zoeybear, have you gotten bile acids tested? What is the ALT level? Ellie's ALT was up last week and her bile acids were also.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh darlin', try not to fret too terribly! There are alot of reasons, and sometimes no reason at all, for these to be elevated. I can't write too much about the tests right now bc I'm at work - but I know others will chime in about these tests. How elevated were they? I'm sending good thoughts your way!

| I don't know about the test or why they didn't tell you. Maybe they thought it wasn't serious. Let's hope so. Prayers coming your way.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would be upset that they didn't mention it. If those levels are elevated enough they won't put the dog under anesthesia. My 10 year old pom has severely elevated levels and she stopped breathing last week during her liver biopsy which we knew was a risk with her levels so high. Most likely with your puppy it could be stress from the drs office or something minor. I would do the recheck and ask the vet why it wasn't mentioned. Try not to worry.

| Thanks everyone for the nice thoughts. The vet said they weren't at a level that he would worry about. The BUN he said was prob due to her high protein diet. He acted like it was nothing to worry about, but does want to recheck in 2 months. Maybe Im just being overly protective.

| I don't have any idea about what those results mean, so I'll leave that for others to tell you. I just wanted to send you both (((hugs)))).

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Zoeybear - I'm not a vet and really don't know what all these test mean either but trust your vet - continue doing the best you can for little Zoey and in two months if your vet wants her checked bring her in. I wouldn't worry yourself sick over this if she is acting normal, playing, eating, etc. Just keep an eye on her.

| Glad that the vet says it should be nothing to worry about. I think all of us as Yorkie owners are hypochondriacs with our little friends! I don't worry about my health near as much as I worry about my little guy. |
