| Our Rescue Pup! --Coccidiosis? Our new rescue pup has coccidiosis... but, she doesn't have diarrhea! If anything, her poop is almost TOO hard. We've got her on antibiotics right now, and our vet gave her a shot (can't remember the name of the drug). How long before she's not contagious to our other ones? (We have her isolated right now )

| There is another med that works better than the albon....It works with one dose: Marquis Paste. A bit more expensive, but one dose is all that is needed.

| My second pup came to us with coccicia and I knew nothing about it at the time and was concerned. I just gave her the medicine and tried to practice good hygiene and I did not isolate her. After her medicine was complete I had her feces retested and she was negative and my other yorkie did not get it. If you google and read about it it is very contagious however the dog must also be suseptable to it and alot of times that comes with an immature immune system and as they grow their immune systems protect them. My pup did not have diarrea with it and it was just found when she was routinely tested by the breeder we bought her from prior to us getting her. |

| I'd call your vet and ask him how long to isolate her.

| Is this fairly new? I am thrilled to learn there is something that will work faster. Thank you.

I only had a case of Coccidia once with a puppy I purchased. However, Albon is what my Vet prescribes for young pups with dirreah it's less irritating to their tummies

| When I was doing rescue many of the dogs came in with this and while Albon was great I easily would have paid the $60 if it took care of the dog with one dosage. Rescue's always had so many issues and being ill did not help. Thanks for responding.
