| What antibiotics to use for Pneumonia I am new to this site but have had 2 weeks of treating my 16 week old Yorkie for Pneumonia. I bought her from a nice lady in Florida. She told me to take her to a vet with 48 hours b/c my puppy had had a little cold but had finished her antibiotics and had just had an x-ray and her lungs were clear. Well I took the puppy home and did just as I was told. My vet said she had an upper- respiratory infection and put on Clavamox. Puppy seemed a little better for 3-4 days. Then started getting worse. Went back to vet. Vet did x-rays and said she had pneumonia. She prescribed Bactrim. Went for 2nd opinion. New vet put her on clindadrops. She was great for 5-6 days. Now last night and today, she can't breathe, won't eat, won't drink, etc. I'm headed back to vet in next 20 minutes. Does anybody have any suggestions???? Is there any medication that can help?? How many should we try? She is to little for a trachea wash. Please help me if you can. I really want her to live. |

| Pneumonia can be very hard to get rid of so don't give up hope. There have been a lot of threads about this. Do a search and hopefully you'll find something that will help you. Good Luck, I hope she gets better soon.

| Thanks so much for the reply. I have been to both websites and actually printed one of the articles and took it with me to the vet. I had to leave her there and the prognosis is poor. Of course I am so sad. She has been through so much and struggles to breath. I know she is in good hands with the Vet but I'm sure she is scared to death too. I guess I was just hoping for a miracle. |

| Hi! When I got Lucy she had a bit of a cough--probably kennel cough and they put her on .25 cc of Clavamox 2 times a day...She seemed to get worse before she got better but after being on the meds for 14 days she is completely healthy. Granted hers never developed into Pneumonia they just gave her the antibiotic so it wouldn't develop any further

| Thanks for all of the prayers but it doesn't look good. I am now praying for God to do what will be best for Roxy. She can't even walk now. I don't want to see her suffer. I will just keep doing what I can to help her. |

| I just gave Roxy a breathing treatment. I am to take her to the vet at 11:00. Yesterday, Dr. Dineen gave her some new injectable antibiotics along with IV fluids. He is going to do that again this morning at 11:00. She ate a tiny bit at 6:00 this morning but is limp as a ragdoll right now. I'll write again as soon as I get home from the vet. I can't tell ya'll how comforting it is to me that ya'll are all out there. Before I joined YT I spent the last 10 days reading through all of the posts and researching. YT provides a great service to Yorkie lovers. I had two Yorkies before I got this baby. My Gizmo (the first) lived with us for 13 years. Gidget, lived with us for 16 years. I lost her this past November. Those two Yorkies were healthy as horses. I've just never seen anything as sick as Roxy. Please keep praying for her. |

| Thanks for the silver tip. I read about it but was scared to try it. I was afraid to do anything that the vet didn't know anything about. I just ordered it. Hope she can keep going til it gets here. At this point, I'll try anything. |
