| Help! Bloody stools! My dog is 1.5 yrs old, female about 6 lbs. She was pretty sick two days ago, I think b/c she ate her own poo, which she later barfed up (at least some of it). Yesterday she had a lot of wet poops (some a little formed, some completely liquid). She was prety lazy yesterday and seemed out of it. She slept thru the night fine and woke up with a pretty good, well formed, although not very hard, poo. I took her on a walk and she let out a similar poo on the walk. Just got back from costco and she had some poos where we leave her which contained a fair amount of blood. She is acting 100% normal, high energy, been eating and drinking fine. Something similar like this has happened before when she ate her own poo and persisted for about 2-3 weeks (back then I didn't know she was eating her poo and never caught her until 2 weeks in). Should I give it another day or two to see if she gets better or could it be something besides eating her own poo? Any help appreciated. |

| Hope she feels better soon I can't give you any advice on this cause I am a new Yorkie Mama (mine is 5 months old - already). Take her to the Vet is the only thing I would do. Hopefully somebody on here can help you with this !!! MAYA send Hughes and Kisses to the sick Furbaby

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Did she have the blood last time too? Are her gums pale? You never know how quickly they can go down when it comes to bloody stools, but you could try giving some canned pumpkin (to help her firm up) and some boiled chicken and rice for meals until she's better. You also might add some pedialyte or karo syrup to her water to get her to drink more. I'm just wondering if she ate something bad a few days ago, pooped it, the bad thing still smelled good though, and then she ate it again. Has she ever eaten a bird or bird poo or anything dead? My concern then would be giardia or something (which does often resolve if they're not puppies). You could always bring stool sample to the vet, which is usually cheaper than an office call. So, it's "bright" blood vs. "black" blood, correct? I hope she feels better asap!

| She slept very well and has been acting 100% normal today. She hasn't taken a poo all day yet, so maybe it's forming well. She's eating, playing and drinking normally. Crossing my fingers for a hard poo. |
