Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would call the emergency clinic and ask them. They should know what type of frogs are common in your area. I just got back with Pixie from the er vet as we think she ate a silica pack that comes in shoes etc. Does he seem ok so far? Good luck

| Yes, at first I could tell (RIGHT after he ate the bottom half) he had a tickle in his stomach, and my mother says that frog legs are still able to move a bit after they are detached (poor puppy has flopping legs in him!!! ) My friend works for some wild life organization and he says that in Minnesota there aren't any dangerous frogs, mainly because of the weather...I hope he's right. It has been well over an hour and he laid in my lap like normal, and is snuggilng in his bed now. He seems to be acting normal...He is my first dog ever, and I would die if something was to make him feel bad I'm sorry to hear about the silica packet...Good luck with everything, keep us posted. |

| frogs and toads I dont know about frogs and toads in your neck of the woods, but in Arizona, our toads are DEADLY! Even a lick of the skin can make a dog(large or small) go into seizures and/or death. Death can happen in a matter of a few hours. Good luck. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | There's certain species of frogs and toads that are deadly to dogs - mostly in areas like Florida - and I guess Arizona too - here in Houston - we have harmless ones but I have to stand outside everynight and scoop them up - we have LOTS here - All 3 of mine go on nightly Toad hunts because they can smell them - but they've never ate one THANK GOD..... but I try to stay on high TOAD alert lol Good luck - I hope he'll be ok - If you still have questions what I did when Chanel picked one up and (quickly) dropped it is ...I called the ER Hospital and asked them if they had treated any dogs for Frog poisoning - they said they had not Toads and frogs WILL Make them foam at the mouth - it's best to never let them touch them - sometimes it's unavoidable cause these little dogs are FAST - but if you see any hopping - catch the toad and Pitch it as far as you can |

Edited to add - well you can say now your yorkie has expensive taste - frog legs are considered a delicacy but WHY people eat them is beyond me -

i also eat things like calamari (fried), some sushi, and escargot. funny escargot story: my husband SWORE he'd never ever eat it. nope, noway, never. (married almost 10yrs now). at the last place i worked they had a christmas party (2006) at a fancy place and set a appetizer sampler on the table. there were these yummy smelling things in a special oil/sauce in the middle. eric, suspecting nothing, pops one into his mouth. (i had already been told that's what they were, but he didn't hear.) "wow, these are REALLY good!" he says, putting another in his mouth. "what is this??" he asks me...asking if anyone at the table wants the last one... "escargot..." i answered him. HAHA! should have seen his face. he now says he will eat them. his mother almost lost her lunch when he told her he now eats fish, sushi, escargot, and mussels. (he trusts me lots!!). ah, good laugh there. but on another note, the only thing i'd worry about was if the toad/frog had been there a while and was maybe rotten. | |
