| Maxwell is having balance problems, can anyone help? I have a two year old little boy named Maxwell. He currently weighs 3 lbs but in the past has weighed almost 4 lbs. In the last couple of months he has begun to lose weight. He is a ferocious eater. Also, recently he has been losing his balance. When he walks it seems that his back end drifts to one side and at times he almost falls over. I have taken him to the vet and they have done two seperate extensive blood workups but they can not find anything wrong. If anyone could help me I would be so greatful. I do not know what else to do. |

| I can't help you but Welcome - YT is a great place and I am sure someone will post soon. Did you take him to a Specialist? If not, that would be my advice, something just doesn't sound right |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | welcome to YT. sorry your little guy isn't doing well. If i were you i'd take him to see a neurologist and perhaps an internal med specialist. for a dog to lose a 1/4 of its body weight in a few months there is something seriously wrong with him. i'm sorry.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Welcome to YT! Sorry you are having health issues with your Maxwell....I hope he gets better quickly! My suggestion is to make sure your Maxwell is tested by the vet for possible ear problems - that can cause balance issues - but also tested for possible liver issues....I think the test that needs to be run is a bile acid test. Good luck in finding out what is wrong!

| I'm sorry that your baby is having a hard time! That's a lot of weight to lose in such a short time. Could be ear problems, as suggested earlier, that can cause a loss of balance. Regular bloodwork wouldn't necessarily show a liver problem..You have to ask for a fasting bile acid test. The imbalance could be caused by that too... Is your baby eating well now?
