Ringworm I think Missy has a ringworm on her arm she always nibbles/bites on it. Has anyone had their little one catch one before? I do think she had it even when we bought her from the pet shop. Considering the fact she was stuck for God knows how much months in a small area, while sharing her little space, with most likely poop and pee everywhere, I wouldn't be surprised if she got it from there. Btw, I got infected by it too, but it is really small and disappeared already...now it has passed onto my sister (because we did touch it, wondering what in the world it was) and I realized pets can get it. So, do I have to get a certain cream? or go to the vet and have him check her out. I also mentioned to the Vet a while ago when we went that we saw some dry lil thing on her arm that she keeps biting! he's like "ohh its ok, most dogs find an area to bite on" yeah OK!! now its gotten bigger and dry with dry tiny bumps... advice/help folks? thanks Last edited by Tina_Luvs_Missy; 04-22-2007 at 04:37 PM.

My new puppy has ringworm. She's on the last stages of it right now, which is a kind of brown flaky looking stuff around her face and leg. The lady I got her from told me it was all gone, but she missed a spot and now, not only did I get a little, which like you said, disappeared pretty quickly, but my other dog got it ALL OVER her. She has it on all four legs and all down her back. Its red in color and its kind of a dry flaky looking scab. That's about the best I can describe it. It usually is raised and will get more so as the area gets more infected. You can take her to the vet if you would like, but really all they will do is prescribe you with a medicated shampoo (anti-fungal) and tell you to buy some anti-fungal cream to rub on her spots. You can purchase the cream at a Wal-Mart or anywhere and it is safe to use on humans or animals and it's relatively cheap, but you may need a vet's permission before purchasing the medicated shampoo. Make sure you confine her to only certain areas of your house, keep her away from too many people, and wash your hands EVERY time you pick her up since it is highly contagious. It takes a while to get rid of, but I promise it will go away. Hope that helped. . .

Ringworm can spread rapidly and also spread to humans. Don't try and treat it yourself it's not worth it. Take your pup to the vet and get meds. That's the only way to really be sure it goes away. Hope it's gone soon.

Well, the secretary for the vet said it is most definitely a fungal infection and insisted that we wash all of our blankets, clothing, anything that missy might of rubbed herself on and to spray anti-bacterial spray over couches and etc....lol how depressing eh, because just a while ago all of our blankets n sheets were washed by my mom since she went on a washing spree lol. Anyway, she told us to bring her because they are not sure how bad it is or what kind of infection it is to recommend and medication cream n such,, so tomorrow we are going in and i am gonna have his asss check her thoroughly, because the amount we waste by him just LOOKING at her makes me really angry so i am putting my foot down and will definitely be aggressive with him until i get the proper answer for my concerns, damn vets
