| Rocky's eye not closing Hi, I took my 10 year old yorkie, Rocky, to the vet today for his yearly checkup. His eye has been tearing but I wasn't too concerned because I had brought him in before for this and was told there was nothing wrong with his eye. This time the vet noticed that he wasn't closing his eye when he stroked under it. He said he thought perhaps he had nerve damage around his eyelid and that it seemed as though his eyelid was paralyzed. I noticed today that he is right - Rocky's eye is not closing even when he sleeps. The vet did bloodwork and is going to do some investigation about this and get back to me. I may have to take him to the opthamologist. Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? He seems healthy otherwise. It's very upsetting. Thank you for any responses. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Could it be due to a very minor stroke or an injury? I hope they can find out what's wrong with him.

| Rocky's eye not closing Thanks to all of you for responding. The vet said he has never come across anything like this. No wonder the poor dog keeps me up at night - how could anyone get any rest with something like this. It doesn't seem like it's bothering him but I'm sure it can't be a good thing. I would think his eye would get dried out and would be very vulnerable to injury. I've been searching the web but can't find a thing about anything like this. Thanks, again. | Rocky's eye not closing Hi, my vet mentioned there was one in Danbury, CT, which is about an hour from me. I will probably take him there. I just hope it's something that can be fixed. |

| Sorry to hear about Rocky's eye. I hope the specialist can make his eye good as new. Poor Rocky, how can he get a good nights sleep if his one eye is open. Best Wishes to Rocky and you.
