Luxating Patella - what to feed?

Hi guys, Peanut may have luxating patella : ( The vet wrote on his report that he had loose knee caps, but I dont have further information at this moment because my mom was the one who went to pick him up from his physical. Just in case, do you guys have any recommendations on any types of food that will help? I read something about glucosamine...but not sure what that is. Any products, recommendations?? thanks!

Missing Link Plus has glucosamine!!! I started using it for Sissy who has LP in her back right leg (mild), but was continually "skipping" around in the yard with that leg. Since she has been on ML+, the skipping is seldom present anymore. Just make sure to start slowly on the ML - sprinkling it on their food. Sissy is 4 lbs, so she gets 1/4 tsp daily at full dosage. You can get this at PetsMart or several online stores.

well it depends on what grade her knees are at. if its mild like grade 1 or 2 you might be able to get away with just adding glucosamine to her diet. Like Jodie said, Missing Link Plus is excellent. There is no special food really to 'fix' this type of problem. Just make sure your pup doesn't put on any weight and stays a good healthy size. fat on a dog can make it harder on their knees and might push them into surgery faster then if it were a skinnier dog.
