| bloody stool Phoebe has been sick since 4 days after her flight here. She has had a bad cough, snorting, back sneezing and sneezing, her stools got very loose and there is always a second bit of stool that is either clear mucous with red blood, or thick creamy mucous with red/pink blood. this has been going on for over three weeks, we've been to the vet about 4 times, been on two separate antibiotics, and all they say is she had a little swelling in her tonsils, and was eating grass. We have put pavers in her potty area, she continues on antibiotics and now they say to give her noodles in her food to gain weight, she is just 4 months and has gained 3-4 oz. in the last month. HELP! We are trying another vet this week.

| no I haven't tried that, I am so very afraid of hurting her or causing worse upset to her tummy. the cough can get very coarse, almost a barking cough (whooping?). She is still active and eating.

| Thank goodness I never encourted these problems until my pup was a Senior. However, a friend just adopted a 9 wk. old pup and was shipped to her. Her little guy has kennel cough and is on antibiotics. I don't think there should be blood in their stool which signals an extremely irritated bowel. If you don't feel confident, consider seeking another vet who has an internist in their hospital. Good luck.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali had the bloody stool and bad kennel cough when I got her. They put her on antibiotics 3 times and finally the coccidia (bloody stool) cleared up after a few weeks and the kennel cough after 3 months. My vet told me to take her in the bathroom when I took a shower so she could get the benefit of the steam to help clear her respiratory track. Hang in there your baby weill get better.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Glad to hear your baby is doing better. I know it's frustrating when they can't get 100 percent. You feel like you take 5 steps forward and 2 steps back! Is she being given anything for the inflammation? I might also suggest yogurt with live cultures in it as a diet addition, if that's not something you already do. (I know many YTers feed yogurt and I'm now among them.) Helps right the immune system -- most of which is directly related to digestive system --and that might help Phoebe get all the way around the corner. Good luck! |
