Default Something is wrong with Mia!

I am not sure what it is but the only thing I can think of is a Hernia! Mia kept waking me up all night and I could tell something was wrong with her. I finally tried to pick her up and she yelped and bit at me like I had hurt her. I noticed she has a small hard ball on her tummy about the size of a lima bean. Do you think it is a hernia? It is about 5:00am right now and she is just trying ot get comfy in my lap but keeps shaking......I am going to take her in to the Vet today as soon as they open but in the mean time...can anyone offer any advice? Thanks!

Hey guys...thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

We just got back from the Vet. He confirmed my thoughts that it is indeed a small hernia. He seems to think I should just watch it for a little while before deciding if I would like to have surgery on it. I do have to say she is acting fine now. He was able to push on it and it did not seem to irritate her. The only concern I have is she is such an active dog - she LOVES to jump and leap over thing, thus why I am enrolling her in an agility course coming this summer. I hope it will not affect the way she likes to do these things.

I guess I will just listen to the Doctor and keep an eye on her for now. If this seems to irritate her a few times more I may have to go ahead and get the surgery done on her. Thanks again everyone for thinking of little Mia!!

Aww poor little Mia. Please keep us updated on her condition. I don't know much about hernias but I'm sure she'll be ok.

What causes Hernia? I am glad she is fnially back home. Am sure she will be getting a bit more than the normal TLC dosage Me and my gang sends tons of huggles

Thanks Des for thinking of us. The Doctor seems to think it was caused by her being so active. You know Miss. Mia always running and jumping over everything she can. I am hoping it will heal on its own - if not I am sure we will have to have surgery to fix it.

She is luckly mommy was off work today. Which means she got to go every where with me since she was sick. I even took her to the nail salon today and sat her in my lap while I had a pedicure - talk about spoiled. We did have to stop on the way home though to pick up a flossie just for Murphy to make up for leaving him behind.

Our Bentley has a hernia, he has had it since he was little. He is now 14 months and doing great still. We haven't had to have surgery and he hasn't had any problems. Vet says he's fine, just watch it. But he is SUPER active too! Glad to hear she's okay!!

OH THANK YOU....that is so good to hear!! I was worried I was being a bad mommy for letting her wait it out to see what happens. I am happy to know Bentley is doing okay too. Thanks again!

The Doctor said they can heal on thier own. He said if she continues to have spells of pain to get it taken care of but she is no longer in pain and back to her old crazy self. Let me tell you how HARD it is trying to get her to NOT jump the 4 foot fence out back. UGH.....I keep telling her to just chill but Mia does not understand Chill apparently!!
