| Need Advice for Murphy! Hey guys....I need some advice from you all. The last week my little boy Murphy has been on some medicine for a UTI. I just had a sample taken back into the Vet yesterday to make sure it was gone. The Vet called and said the infection looked like it was gone but there was no acid in the urine and urine should be acidic. MY questions for the Vet was that Murphy is still going outside and lifting his leg and dribbling a little here or there or not any at all. Don't get me wrong when I take him out of his crate after a long time he does pee a good stream but than feels the need to keep trying to go time and time again. I just don't know is this normal for a boy dog to do? HE has been neutered since he was 5 months old and he is about 1 1/2 now. I am a little worried it may be a stone or something. The Vet did say I could bring him in for an X-Ray but they might have to fill his bladder with air - yikes! Can any one tell me what they think about any of this - I am just concerned for my baby but want to make sure if he is in pain we clear it up. I really just assumed he was marking like a male should but maybe he really does have something wrong - I do not know?????

| I don't know anything about the acid or whatnot. But I do know that Alphy always does a little here and a little there. He needs to lift his leg on everything. When we walk, he hits every fence post, tree and shrub, even when he's out of juice.... makes me laugh. I'm like you're all out Alph, but he doesn't seem to mind.

| I would have an x-ray done or an ultrasound...Some stones don't show up on regular x-rays and can only be seen on ultrasounds. When we first found out that Miko had them, he would try to pee and very little or nothing would come out. I pray that your baby is fine and does not have stones.

| No problem Your baby won't have to be put under for an x-ray or ultrasound. It's really easy, and it won't hurt him in any way. If there are stones, they'll probably just put him on special food to dissolve the stones unless he has a large stone that will not dissolve. If that's the case, then he will have to have surgery to have that stone removed. Try not to worry yourself too much until you find out more. Keep us updated, and if you have any other questions, please ask.

| The only thing I can add is to ask the vet HOW to get the right amount of acidity in his urine. There has to be a reason for this, they should help you figure it out. Hugs to you both!

Also do you think I should mention the ultrasound to him as well? Thanks again for all your help.

| I'm glad you spoke with the vet! I'll keep little Murphy and his doctor and YOU in my prayers 2nite. As far as being sedated while doing the x-ray, I know when Hobbs broke his leg, they had to give him a bit of gas to x-ray him bc he wouldn't be still. But the gas wears off so quickly that it is not a big deal at all. I'm talking like 5 minutes to wear off. And they sedated Hootie with gas on Tuesday when she got her tooth pulled. As soon as they took that mask off, she was completely fine, like it never even happened. So I am sure the sedating part won't be a big deal. |

Well the good thing is - he was okay in the long run. I am surprised Murphy never broke anything since he did his share of jumps, nose dives and falls when he was a wittle one.
