| Car Sickness My yorkie Theo has gotten car sick or very close every time he rides in the car. I am so tired of cleaning my car and he has classes that begin next week. My vet said to wait it out and he will grow out of it. His is 7mths now and still getting sick. He is a rather big yorkie, my guess would be that he is 10lbs. Is there anything I can give him and in what dosages? I have tried anti-anxiety methods from the pet store, with no luck. |

| I used to, but it seemed to upset him even more. And then I would also have to drag him through his vomit to get him out. Maybe it i try it again it will help. |

| I put a towel in the crate, that soaks up the liquid anyway, and at least you don't have it all over the car, or in your lap. |

| I think it just depends on the dog. I have 6 Yorkies. 2 get car sick and the rest don't. I don't think age has anything to do with it. I have had young ones not get sick. I have taken them out on a full stomach and an empty stomach they still get sick. My dogs all sit in fleece line car seats. I line them with towels and bring extra towels dont want to leave anyone out !!! |

1. Short and frequent trips around the block to get used to 2. Lookout car seat, regular mesh car seat, my lap (while hubby drives) 3. Not feeding a few hours prior to driving in the car 4. Dramamine 5. Benadryl 6. Natural motion sickness drops He is 7 months old and almost 4lbs. NOTHING has worked for us. He starts salivating profusely and then pukes up bile My vet says I need to wait and see if he grows out of it. I NEED to take a trip to TN soon (25 hr drive). My poodle and cat love trips and do excellent........I am going to pull my hair out because I want him to enjoy it too Help?!?!

| Doing a bit better So I called my vet and they said to give Theo an 1/8 of Dramamine tablet. He was very sickly looking, so the next day I gave him a quarter of a pill and bought him a car seat. He seems to be doing much better. I think it will just take a lil bit of time. His training classes start next week! Wish us good luck!!! |

| I had a dog many moons ago that would get carsick and I noticed that if I left the window at least 1/2 way down so the air could blow on her that it helped immensely. I also bought a little fan that I mounted on the console between the front seats for when it was too cold to open the windows and just that little bit of air blowing worked. She would actually sit in her carseat and put her face as close to the fan as she could. Might be worth a try

There was also a new medication just approved for dogs that get carsick but you'd have to search to find the thread. I'm going to find it again and ask my vet about it for Jo...I can't even get him a few blocks from home to the vet without him getting sick. | |

| I just give my girl her favorite chew treat & that keeps her occupied. You might start just going out & sitting in the car w/him & letting him chew on a treat so he associates the car with yummy treats instead of yucky vets, groomers, etc. Maybe for 5-10 minutes 3 times a day then take the treat away when you go out so he looks forward to getting in the car for the treat, then after he's comfortable just start the car but dont drive, let it run for a bit then turn it off & do it until he has no reaction, then you could drive around the block, & then 2 then 3, until he is ready for the big trip Good Luck. Some goods meds wuld help to, I get car sick if I dont drive, maybe if he drives |

| HAHA! I bet he would love to, but then we would spend all of our free time at the pet store. |
