| Brain Tumor My 11 yr old yorkie has a brain tumor, which is why he went blind. They Dr. said he has anywhere from 2-5 months to live. They have him on a steroid for inflammation and taking a chemo pill 3 times per week. The medicine can help him live 4 times longer. So far he is doing okay with the meds and is eating again. I also started him on K-9 Immunity. He had alot of spunk when he first started the meds two weeks ago, but the last 2 days he has been laid back. I don't know what to expect and whether I should continue the meds. The steroids eventually will have to stop because it can cause bleeding in his intestines. It is so confusing and I am not sure if I am doing the right thing. Has anyone experienced this and any information would be appreciated.THANK YOU |

| I am so sorry for what you are going through. I guess my best advise is to weigh in the quality of life. If the medicine will make him live a few months longer but he is miserable then is it worth it for him? Wait and see if he bounces back in a few days, if he seems to be doing better then it is probably good to stay on the medicine. Good luck to you, I know it is a very hard decision. |

| I am so very sorry to hear about your baby. I know your heart is breaking. My first Yorkie, Laciebug, didn't have a tumor, but she did have leisons in her brain which caused swelling. She was on a low dose of prednisone for almost 3 years. She seemed to have no reaction to the steriod, however, some days she was "with us" other days she was confused. ...btw after the leisons were discovered in Laciebugs brain, she was given two to six months, she was a brave soul and shared her love with us for almost three years. Hugs and more hugs to both of you |

| Thanks I have heard stories like you Laciebug and hope this will be the case with my Boomer. So far he has not had the syptoms they told he would have 2 months ago. He is healthy in every other way except for the brain. He gets around like he is not blind and has the whereitall to know when to go out and where he has to go. I have changed his diet and that has helped out alot. Thanks again |

One last thought -- I was always concerned that Laciebug might be in pain. My vet really didn't believe that she was, of course there was no 100% way of knowing. Each time I would take her to the vet he was overjoyed to see my brave little soul. And each time I would tearfully ask him "is it time?" Always Doc would give me the same answer -- "Cindy, Listen to Laciebug, she will tell you when it is time, don't give up on her." He was right, Boy I love my vets. | |

| I'm so sorry little Boomer has so much to deal with and my heart goes out to you for the stress and uncertainity this must be bringing you. But you have to believe in your mommy-instinct, in Boomer and in what your heart tells you. That will guide you in your decisions. These little guys are tougher than they look and I would sure give Boomer a fighting chance if it were me. There are still miracles floating around out there. I pray that one of them is meant for Boomer. God Bless you both.
