| stress perhaps? i am just exhausted with how much Layla is sick... yesterday was her first day with no meds after having kennel cough and tonight the diarrhea has started up again... do dogs get diarrhea from stress??? today was very stressful for layla at obedience... lots of dogs... she was very upset near the end... she also had no naps today (she usually has two good ones during the day) and due to being at obedience.. she ate mainly treats today and filled up on that instead of food....i'm hoping all of these things add up to the diarrhea and tomorrow she will be back to normal.. i'm supposed to go with my family tomorrow to watch The Brier (curling) and leave layla with the babysitter but i'm not sure i'll be going anymore thoughts on this anyone?? i'm nervous that if it goes on too long i'll bring her to the vet and he'll tell me she has to be on that crap vet food again.. he wants her to be on it permanently but i won't do it.. she is on VERY high quality food now.. i'm SO hoping this is a one day thing so stressed out |

| I will assume it is the same for dogs but when pepper was a kitten and we brought her home she was mega stressed out with Dusty and the kids and for about 2 days had the runs.

| I'm not an expert, but I would think stress and the change in her routine could cause it. I hope she feels better soon! We are dealing with a sick puppy ourselves and it's horrible! Hang in there! |

| Yes they sure can. My daughter went to Vegas and her dog stayed with us. Bella had lots of bloody diarrhea all weekend and we took her to the vet. We had many tests done and the vet said that she has seen many of the small breeds that will get stressed and have bouts of it. It costs about $600 for all the tests with negative results. The vet boards dogs sometimes and said that some will have the diarrhea until the owner comes back to pick them up.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Stress has definately caused diahrrea in mine. Also since they are so small it is hard to reward them with treats during training each time as it can make them get an upset tummy. Hope Layla is feeling better soon.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | It is rough when they are sick. Cali was sick so much her first 6 months with me I was a wreck. As she got older she seemed to settle down some. My vets say to me all the time see if you can stay away from here for a couple of weeks. With 3 it seems like I am always at the vets. Maybe you could give her a little Pepto Bismol? I hope you get some sleep and can go on your planned outing as it sounds like you could use a fun day!

Poor Layla, Poor you! Sending get well quick hugs Maybe you both need a long quiet vacation from the stress of obedience class and kennel cough. I know when I get super-duper tired I get sick and the only thing that makes me better is lots and lots of rest.

| Sorry to hear that Layla is not totally better yet. I definitely think that the addition of lots of treats from her obedience class could mess with her little tummy. I hope she feels better really soon.

I agree, it is harder on us. They bring us so much joy, but we also worry so much about them!

| hey everyone... well we didn't have a "Great" night last night.. we were up at 12.. and then 2.. but then not until 6.. and she hasn't gone again... last time she was sick she would go out with the urge to go but nothing would come out.. so i guess this is better sadly someone has to stay home from our trip today as i don't want her going to the babysitter (she called yesterday thinking that he puppy was getting sick) .. my mom volunteered to stay back but i feel guilty. like i should stay .. anyways.. i'll keep you posted! i'm going to keep her on her dry food.. just no treats or wet food today.. i still have food from the vet but i'll only put her back on htat if this lasts.. PLEASE pray that it doensn't! |

| ok we've decided to bring her to the babysitter's... she is full of energy this morning and hasn't had a bad poop since 6 am.. i notice when she has diarrhea that it is usually just at night. lucky me! so i'm hoping she will be fine today... i'm giving the babysitter our phone numbers in case she needs to call.. we'll be back home tonight around 8... i'd just hate for my mom to stay and have layla be perfectly healthy all day... like many of you said i think it was the stress of the day and layla LOVES it at the babysitters so i'm hoping things go well!!! i hope i didn' tmake the wrong decision! |
