Should I vaccinate? With our first yorkie, Biscuit, we did all of his vaccinations (he is 1 year now). Luckily, everything was okay with him as far as I know. He did have kennel cough, it's hard to tell if that was because of the vaccines or not. We now have a new puppy and she is due for her third set of puppy shots. The breeder did the first two sets before we got her. My concern is that I have been researching vaccines a lot and the illnesses they can cause and now I am torn about what to do? I would hate myself if she got sick off the vaccinations, but I am worried more about not being able to get her heartworm preventative without themor her possibly contracting a disease. What are your experiences with vaccines and your babies? Help!! I am really stressing over this issue!

Yes vaccinate. She was fine w/the other 2 the breeder gave her, theres just one more & she will be good for a year. I have vaccinated ALOT of puppies because I did rescue, I never had one pup have a bad reaction. Your pup is far more likely to die from parvo or some other disease that she may get from not getting the vaccine then the vaccine itself. You might pick up some baby asprin to give her after because sometimes there can be some tenderness at the site & possibly a low fever, but she'll be fine.

vaccine It is unwise NOT to vaccinate a puppy in the normal 3 series...once you have properly done this, you may want to reframe from over vaccinating in the future...I am not into yearly shots for all Yorkies...3 yr Rabies is important IMO. You have to look at your dogs lifestyle...are they in dog parks or around other strange dogs? Go to shows...obedience classes..play groups. Of course some diseases are airborne...I would do a parvo yearly if it is a problem..but you can give parvo only..and Lyme's if you are rural.. If you give yearly shots..by the time the dog is 3 or 4 it adds up to alot of vaccine..I never vaccinate after 5 yrs..haven't for 20 yrs...never had a dog with parvo or any problem..BUT you must decide for your dog because there is no going back if you are wrong.
