| Docked tail problem My vet is out of town for the week and so I am reaching out to YT for any info you might have. This is my first experience with a litter and I'm not sure what exactly to expect. My fur babies were born on Saturday, 02-03, and had their tails docked on Monday, 02-05 (a week ago today). I was holding one of the little ones this evening and noticed that the tip of his tail was bright red, slightly swollen, and looked raw. I am wondering if his mom has been licking it. I instantly looked at the other three babies and they are all healing nicely. Is there something I should put on it and is this normal? Any suggestions or wisdom would be appreciated. Thanking you in advance - Kay

| Hi there, Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I have not had a problem with tail docking. Mine have always been ok, You might try to post this on the "Breeder Talk" section. There's usually a few breeders on there who are ready to answer questions like this. I hope your little one is ok. Does you vet have someone covering for them for the week?

| Can you put a little peroxide on it? I would call the vet first and ask them. |

| Update on docked tail Just a quick note to let you know that I took the little guy to the vet yesterday. He had some extra tissue on the end that didn't need to be there that wasn't allowing the tip of his tail to heal. The doc clipped off the excess tissue and cauterized the end and it looks mucho better today. Doc said it should heal up nicely now. I am such a worrier, but this is my first litter and everything is new to me.

| That's great. You're a good mommy to catch that and take care of it so quick.
