Go to the Dog Whisperer's Web site as he is always looking for challenges.....send them your story and see if he will come and help you with your problem. But in the meantime, you really need to keep them from getting at each other. But if you can't do that, it may be a hard decision but one you may have to make to have "happy" and "safe" puppies of letting one go. I have been down that road so I have total empathy and understanding. I had to let one of mine go and I still think of her and miss her but I can see her anytime I want as she only lives a mile from me. How did I decide? Well, the one that was here with me the longest had seniority rights. JMO

This might sound strange; one of my yorkies is really loud when she plays and sometimes she sounds mean. I put a t-shirt on her and she settles down--sort of like swaddling a baby.

Have any of the ideas offered to you worked? The dog whisperer's website offers tons of information....did you find a copy of one of the seasons you could watch for more ideas? Have you contacted a trainer for advice? I dont think people WANT you to get rid of your dogs I think they are just saying that after a year of this there may be no other alternatives and for the dogs safety it might be a solution for some peace for each dog. If you try one of the sources mentioned above you might find a better solution than rehoming them though...so give them a whirl and let us know how it works. I really hope you can get them to be buddies!! Best of luck!!

You've gotten a lot of good advice here. Just remember that we all love doggies here and want what's best for everyone. Yes, you would be heartbroken if you had to rehome one or both of your babies, but if you try everything else and nothing works, are you going to let them go through this for the rest of their lives? That wouldn't be very fair to them Have you decided to bring in a trainer?

first of all dont panic ive been there done that and got the t shirt
my scampi and zac started fighting like that a few years ago, they are dad and son and for about 5 years got on great, in fact zac loved scampi to bits and scampi was the top dog but zac got ill and i had to give him a lot of my time and zac thought he was now top dog cos of this, think back to when it started, had anything happened? no matter how small.
scampi and zac didnt just fight to hurt they frighted to kill, and yep there was plenty of blood drawn including mine and my mums.
it got so bad there could not have eye contact at all or they would go at it, i had to keep them on leads with them at ether end of the room with a sheet in the middle so they couldnt see each other, if they did get at each other we couldnt part them, one time my mum and i had to hold them on the floor for over an hour still attatched to each other so they couldnt shake and really do damage to each other.
first of all i started pushing zac away from me and having scampi on my lap, fed scampi first made zac watch and wait till scampi had eaten it then fed zac, i made sure what ever was done scampi came first and zac waited.
i down graded zac as i was top dog then scampi.
i also pinched zac if he went for scampi and then pushed him on his back and held him there.
it took months for it to settle down but one day after another it got better, and after about 8 months you would never know it happened they got on fine.
so dont think you have got no chance, it will take a long time to sort out but with any luck you will get there in the end.
treat the dog dog like a top dog and even though its hard you have got to push the other one out, make them feel like an under dog and they will then act like one. good luck.

I think Sashajade hit the nail on the head. They are fighting for dominance and the only way to fix the situation is to address the issue of dominance. Whoever was top dog first is going to fight to be top dog, and probably won't give up. So treat that one as the top dog. Give him food preference, make the other one wait until the top dog has eaten before he gets the food.

Btw, Cesar Milan did address this issue on one of his shows. Netflix and other video stores carry the programs from prior seasons. Check out the Discovery Channel and see if it's listed in their archives. That is the channel he appears on.

I just purchased off of ebay the Ceasar Millan DVD on aggression for under 18.00 with shipping. I do not have a problem with aggression between my two but the yorkie is very very mean and aggressive with any other dogs that approach...........so I'll see what he says and give you feedback. . . . but I just ordered it today!!!!!

My trainer suggested putting a harness and leash on the aggressive dog so you can grab the dog who is causing the problems and remove whatever toy or chew thing that is causing the problem.

I hate to say this but I recently read (rainbowbridge site) that a female killed another female....you may want to consider adopting out either the aggressor or aggressee....
