| Not eating his food Hi YT! Im having trouble getting Izzy to eat his food. This just started Friday evening up until today. Now this week a has been crazy. I was out of town for 3 days for work, my breeder was so kind to watch him. I came home Thursday, he slept all day because he was tired from playing with his litter mate and mom and dad. Friday I went to work like normal, then we've been kind of on the go this weekend, running errands, visiting and then my power went out last night so I had to sleep over a friends house. I brought his food with us everywhere we went and he just would not eat it. All he had this weekend was treats, and ate them with no problem, hes had water too. Should I try to change his food maybe? Do you think the crazy week threw him off? Im not sure what to do.

| Wesley doesn't eat whenever we are doing something out of the ordinary. I give him more healthy treats throughout the day so at least he's eating something. I do think the busy week probably threw Izzy off. I don't think you need to change his food if he hasn't had trouble with it in the past. If you are worried about him not getting enough to eat, you could maybe mix in a little wet food with his hard to coax him to eat more, then just give less and less wet till he is back to only dry. I'm sure when things calm down again, he'll be back to normal. Good luck! |

| He probably misses his littermate & mom & Dad. That was just way to much fun for him. Misha isn't eating well right now. We just got a new puppy & I think she is stressed.

| Update: He's eating now!! Yeah! I think it was the busy week too. He ate a little bit yesterday while I was gone to work, when I came home he gobbled up all of his food! This morning he ate like normal too...so I guess we had to get back on our regular routine. Thanks for the bits of advice everyone!

| Bad News Now he went back to not eating again. He ate well Monday and part of yesterday. When I came home to feed him, he would eat one piece and spit it out. I tried feeding him out of my hand and he just backed away. This morning I mixed in a beef/rice mixture the vet gave me from when he got sick and he ate around the kibble pieces. Normally I feed soft food and the hard kibble, i mix it up and add a little water to soften the kibble. He used to gobble it up. I dont think he had preference over hard or soft food because he pretty much ate whatever was in his bowl. I started feeding him the soft food to make it easier for him to chew. Now Im confused. Im calling the vet to find out what is wrong. Any other suggestions?

| I had been feeding Sassy the dry food like the breeder was. I have only had her for a couple of weeks. Then she stopped eating that. It stressed me more than her...so I went to the grocer and bought baby food...lamb with lamb broth and she ate it right up along with the dry that it was mixed with. Now she has taken to licking off the lamb abd leaving the dry. So this evening I switched to Royal Canin and she enthusiastically ate the first few bites and then turned up her nose. I just got through mixing some with scrambled egg to get her to eat. She gobbled it down asked for more and then tried to hide what was left all over the house for later. Oh, woe is me. Woe is you. If you get it figured out, please be sure to share it with me. |
