| Something is wrong with Ralfie! Hey guys- Something seems to be really wrong with my 3 mo old yorkie. He refuses to eat (the last time he ate was last night around 9) but normally he's a little piggy- he can't get enough! He's very lethargic, he's been sleeping all day, but he won't sleep in his normal spot at the bottom of the bed. He insists on being on top of me or my boyfriend, which is also unusual he isn't normally so dependant. He's biting at himself really hard- his paws & legs. The only time he'll leave us is so he can bite at himself w/o being caught He normally loves playing with his toys, but also completely being ignored. He only wants to bite or sleep. His ears feel cooler than normal. Im worried- he seems to be really trying to tell us something isn't right. Does this sound like anything you guys have experienced, or should I just take him to a 24 hr vet? |

| Please get him to the vet ASAP When they're this little, it's better not to take any chances. Being lethargic is the number one symptom that scares me. Hugs and please let us know how he's doing

Where he is biting at his feet maybe it's an allergy to something...what are you feeding him? My daughters Golden has allergies to certain foods...she changed him to Wellness and he is fine...I sure hope your little guy is ok...let us know.

| The same thing happened with my cosmo..but I doubt its the same problem..his paw that he was biting at..the nail was cut REALLY short we have no idea how he hurt it and he just wanted to sleep..but then again he sleeps all day anyway. Or maybe he got bit by something or is allergic to something around him? |

| Just got back from the animal hospital! Hey everyone- Thanks so much for your concern! I just got back from the animal hospital and Ralfie seems to be doing much better. The vet ran all kinds of tests and couldn't figure out anything wrong, and she thinks he ate something he shouldn't have off the floor. She kept him there for a couple hours to monitor and he slowly started to perk up, and eventually ate & drank. Pretty soon he started returning to his usual hyper self and she decided he was ready to come home. I'm pretty sure she's right: as soon as I got home I searched around on the floor and saw two small pieces of Buncha Crunch (or whatever the name of that candy is) under the sofa... and they look alot like his dog food! Can't really blame him for trying one but I feel so bad he got sick. I'm just relieved it wasn't worse because chocolate is just awful for dogs, & esp him because he's so young! Not sure who the messy culprit is, but as he seems ok now all is well. I'm still going to monitor him closely for the rest of the night, but I hope its over. Ralfie says thanks too everyone (and me too haha)! |

| I'm glad he's OK. There's been so much bad news lately that it's wonderful to hear a good outcome.

| I'm glad he's okay I wonder why he was biting his paws? What kind of food is he eating? Could be an allergy to something perhaps? Hmm.... Maybe call your regular vet Monday, they might have some ideas. I hope that this was just a freak thing, and it won't happen again. I know it's so scary!
