| Tiggy limping! Lyme disease? =( just yesterday tiggy started limping pretty badly on the rear right foot. today she still favors it but it's not as bad. about a month ago, tiggy had 3 ticks on her. we removed the ticks intact and went to the vet three days later. i asked if tiggy might have lyme disease, my vet said "if she had, she probably be limping or not moving much by now." no lyme disease test was done tiggy is still the same happy careful doggie but when she runs you can see she drags her right rear leg. i am so worried, i was angry yesterday. the vet was closed today, so i'll be making a visit tomorrow, monday. could it be lyme disease? could it be a broken leg? thanks so much for your time reading my dilemma.

| Im so sorry your baby is limping. It could be from a number of things, Best to have the vet check your baby out. Has she been checked for luxating patella? Id ask the vet about that too.luxating patella? is a dislocated knew joint on the front of their hind leg. Toy dogs are prone to this disorder due to their small size. It is actually extremely common in Yorkshire terriers. With age it tends to keep slipping out of its socket. This can occur in yorkies with weak muscles or tendons, as well as yorkies whose kneecap groove is too shallow or narrow. I hope she checks out good and nothing is wrong with her. good luck. |

| thanks yorkie shadow, it's sad because tiggy is only 10 months old =( but i did forget to mention during the time i visited the vet regarding the ticks; i mentioned that when she walks, she walks funny. she did an hand examination on her knees and legs and did mention that her right rear leg feels different than her left rears =( Quote:

| I sure hope Tiggy doesn't have lyme disease. I did a little reading on it and one place said symptoms usually don't show up for about 2 months after the tick bite. Since it's only been about a month, hopefully that is not what it is. Another site said it's usually a foreleg that is painful or one of the first signs of the disease. I hope whatever it is can be diagnosed and treated easily. Hugs to you and Tigger!

| good news, lyme disease came up negative. but tiggy could have a sprain, she is taking derermaxx right now to see if it is better my vet discovered something could be wrong with her right hip..... however, if in 5 days derermaxx does not seem to relieve er limping......tiggy will have to be sedated for xrays near the hip....
