| Update On Willow's Broken Leg & Surgery Thank you everyone at Yorkietalk.com for your hugs, prayers, well wishes, and words of comfort as I dealt with my 8 month old yorkies broken leg and surgery to repair it that followed. Today is 9 days after her injury and 5 days after her surgery. Willow has a plate and pins in her right back leg with a four inch incision from ankle to thigh. She has to wear an e collar and stay confined in a small carrier for four weeks and then a little larger carrier for another four weeks. She is resting comfortably today and is finally eating on her own. I found the magic combination to be a/d with a little water mashed in and a few cat food juices dribbled on top. Yum yum she said as she gobbled a little of it down for me. She doesn't care for the carrier too much, but loves for her momma to hold her and rub her back until she falls asleep. I want to thank everyone again for all the love and support you have given to us during this most traumatic time and I will keep you all updated on Willow's progress over the course of the next few weeks. Love Pegi and Willow Apple Valley, Minnesota |

| Pegi - it is so great to hear some good news on Willow's progress. It is very good she is eating and I'm sure everyone would rather have their momma holding them and rubbing their backs till they go to sleep!! Keep up the great work. Sissy sends kisses to you and Willow...

| Thank you so much for all your continued support. Willow is doing great today. She is eating and wants so bad to play with the cat. I took her out of her case today and held her while she chewed on a flossie. That helped make the time go by better for her. I am just so thankful that she is healing and won't have any permanent damage from this. She even squatted for the first time last night when she pottied. I was so happy I cried. I keep teasing her and asking how did she get that little chihuahua's leg where her beautiful little yorkie leg used to be. I am soo happy that Willow is doing good again, but my heart can't stop aching for that sweet baby Miko that is so gravely ill over in Illinois. I know Kami is going through so much and I wish there was something we could do. I stumbled up on this website trying to search for information on yorkies with broken legs and I think I am going to try to make it a goal for this year to really put the word out about this horible Petland. We have a petstore here in Burnsville, Minnesota at the mall called Pet Ranch. I wonder if there is any relation. I am going to do research and find out all I can about Petland and hopefully try to make a difference so that they can't continue to do this to these poor little puppies. Another little puppy on here died this past weekend and she was from a Petland as well. Willow and I send much love and all our prayers to baby Miko. |

| Thank you for little Willow's update! I had been wondering how she has been doing since her injury. Poor baby, it hurts so bad to see them in pain but sounds like you are making her as comfy as possible. If you have a problem with her appetite again, the "magic bullet" for our Toto is homemade chicken broth. I keep it in the freezer and she will even drink it like water! I strain it twice and it looks like lemonade ... poured on her food and she will eat anything!! We will keep Willow in our prayers and Toto sends puppy kisses!

| So glad Willow is doing better. Poor little girl is gonna need ALOT of attention the next two months. Imagine having to not only wear a collar, but to be confined, too. Better spoil her rotten! I hope the time passes quickly and Willow's recovery is even speedier. God Bless.

| One Week Update It is exactly one week since Willow's surgery and she is doing great today. Her incision is healing very well. We get to go next Thursday to get her stitches out and I will be so glad. Then she won't have to wear her lampshade anymore and can have water in her kennel. I am having a very hard time confining her and today when I let her out of her potty kennel to take her back to the bedroom to her sleepng kennel . . . she darted out of that potty kennel so fast and ran into the other room looking for her toys. I just about freaked out. And we know her broken leg works cuz she ran perfectly on it. I had to grab her real quick and scold her a little bit and now she had to go back into her kennel so she can stay calm and can't run and play yet. She doesn't understand and I sure hated to scold her for wanting to play. That just about broke my heart . . . but my heart would be more broken if she re-injured that leg. I went out and bought her a child's playpen today and have it set up in my bedroom. I am going to put her in there a little later today and let her chew on her flossies. I hope she likes it. Don't know what else to do. I hate that she is confined for another five weeks . . .but it's doctors orders. I just hate that she ran across the room, but I don't think she hurt anything. Well that's our update for week once since surgery. Thanks again everyone for your support and continued well wishes for Willow. Last edited by BellaWillow; 01-04-2007 at 09:29 AM. |

| I am so thrilled for you that Willow is on the mend! I know the anxiety you've been experiencing...& it's no fun. I also found Yorkie Talk while trying to find out information related to a health crisis, & this place is wonderful. So many people with great & caring information. You're doing a wonderful job as caregiver! I'm constantly amazed at how little these furbabies are & they have the capability to bounce back. Our good thoughts & prayers for you & Willow are headed up north to Minnesota, my home state. C.J. (a transplated Minnesotan) & Muffin

| Muffin's first mastectomy surgery is almost 100% healed & she'll probably go in the week of the 15th for her second one. I appreciate the good thoughts from you & Willow, trust me! C.J.

| So glad to hear that Willow is progressing so well I think you'll have good luck with the playpen. I used one with Lucy and am now using one with Rebel at night because he is so little. There's room for his water and pee pad (I take the food out at 9:00 every night) It's worked really well for me.
