| Willow Seems Worse Today Instead Of Better I brought Willow home from the University of Minnesota Friday evening after having a plate put in her broken leg and she seemed so happy and wiggly to see me and ate a lot of food. Yesterday she was quiet and rested very well and ate a little bit for me . . . but not as much as I would like to see her eat. Baby chicken food and some soft food. Two teaspoon fulls every two hours. Not drinking as much water as I would like to see . . . but still pottying every few hours. Last night she slept really well. I went out and bought a wonderful $100.00 soft sided case with openings on the front, top, and side. It is like a piced of luggage. I put her in that and had it on top of my bed at the headboard with pillows around it so it couldn't go anywhere. I don't think I heard a peep out of her. This morning when she woke up she just seems more quiet than usual. She ate a little bit but wanted me to hold her. I don't think she is in pain. Wouldn't she let me know if she was hurting? No crying, no whining, no yelping. Just quiet but very receptive . . . bright eyes. Do you think she just wants to rest from her surgery and I am making too much out of it? When do you think she will get a better appetite again? When should we see our first poopers? Thanks to everyone that has given us such good advice and support. Willow and I can't thank you enough for your love and well wishes. Love Pegi and Willow |

| Our experience We are in our 5th week of recovery from a broken leg. Lacy has 4 pins and a bar. She is seen every week and the dressing is changed. During the 2nd week something happened (we don't know what) and she was obviously in pain (shaking and panting) so she was rehospitalized for 3 days and they found nothing wrong. Since then she has seemed to improve almost every day. There have been a couple of times that we suspected she might be uncomfortable but whatever it was passed. We have watched her carefully, hand fed her (stopped that 2 days ago) and have tried to keep her as quiet as possible. It gets more and more difficult. She wants to play with Caesar now in the worst way. Our advice is to just keep a close eye on Willow. As long as she is eating well and sleeping comfortably she is probably ok. We spent a lot of time just simply holding Lacy for the 1st couple of weeks. We did try the kennels, etc. but she seemed to be very unhappy and agitated when we confined her so now we simply put her into another room when we are gone so that she and Caesar can't run and play. She sleeps in our bed with lots of pillows around her and a blanket over the top so that it is like a den. Seems to be VERY HAPPY! It takes a little while for them to figure out how to "do their business" on 3 legs but they master it very quickly. Have patience and just keep giving Willow lots of attention. Hopefully it will turn out well for all of us. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Sending get well wishes to the little hurt yorkies...that must break your heart seeing them like that hopefully Willow is healing and she'll be as good as new - the medicine she's on may be making her feel bad and good luck to little Lacey too....She sounds like she's doing really well... My son's weiner dog just had emergency back surgery and is in week 2 ...it takes time to heal bones... so quiet is good. You'll know if they're in pain ..they have ways of telling us. Just keep up the TLC and if you see anything you're uncertain of - call the vet just to double check. |

| Thank you so very much for telling about your progress with sweet little Lacy. It appears we have a long road ahead as well . . . but your story gives me much hope and encouragement. I will continue to do everything I can for my baby and not get to discouraged if the progress is slow. I just hand fed her and she did pretty good. I even gave her a little cat food juices on her soft food to get her going . . . as she loves Isabella's cat food. She urinated so that is good. We just haven't seen any poop yet. One day at a time . . . but the most important thing is to keep her comfortable. We are laying in bed all day today with her in that beautiful new kennel with the very soft little pad inside. She seems very comfortable in it and I leave one of the mesh doors rolled up and put my arm in and rub her back. The rest will do both of us good. Thank you again for telling me about your Lacy. Your words were the medicine that this scared momma needed to hear. Hugs and kisses to you and Lacy for a speedy recovery. Love Pegi and Willow |

| oh I hope Willow is feeling better soon. I think it is normal after surgery to not poop for a couple days. I think if she is feeling pain, you will sense it. I think you should trust your instincts and if you are really worried, talk to your vet or take her in. It is just so tough with furbabies that they can't talk and tell us how they feel!!! Just like our human babies. HUg her, hold her and luv her!!! She deserves all the attention you can give her right now. Kisses, Hugs and prayers for a quick recovery to Willow

| you are not alone... It is so hard, I know. My little angel had her leg fractured yesterday. My heart breaks for you. The vet told me you will know when they are hurting because they wimper. She gave me pain med to give her. We have only had to use it once to keep her comfortable. Lots of hugs to you for everyone. I wish your precious little one a speedy recovery. Take good care. |

| How is Willow today? Just wondered how your little one is doing today. Hope that Willow is eating and eliminating well and that you are feeling a little better about it. We completely understand how frustrating and upsetting this situation is. Again, our best wishes to both you and Willow for a good result. |

| Thank you so very much for asking about Willow today. OMG that little peanut is doing so good. We had our first poopers last night which was very hard for her to squat on one back leg . . . but that sweet little girl did it on her pad. We are peeing every four hours. And today she is eating a/d. I still can't get her to drink any water for me . . . but I just take the a/d and put it on a paper plate and pour a little water on it and mash it all up and guide the paper plate around for her to eat it. We are taking her e collar off a few times a day and let her lay on my lap and chew on a flossie. She loved that. Then momma holds her and rubs her back and she likes that too. She lays in the case I got her real good too and sleeps off and on. She wants to play with the cat in the worst way . . . but Isabella is being nice and knows that Willow is hurt and can't play. How is your sweet little Lacy doing this weekend? She had a dressing on her wound? Willow only has an open incision with stitches that we get out on January 11th. I think Lacy' surgery was far more extensive that Willow's. We have a plate and two pins to my knowledge. On the big lower bone. The other lower bone is still broken but they are not concerned since they stabalized the bigger bone. I think it was tibia and fibula. On the back right leg. What bones did Lacy break? Oh . . . and I am doing a lot better today too. It's so hard to see your little furbabies hurt and sick, but I think I can make it through this. This website and all the caring people sure have helped me. |
