Default Lucy and Tucker: spayed and neutered

Ah what fun I"ve been having this week! The pain pills make him puke, and her poop is finally returning to semi solid! And all the while, I worry if they are going to yank at their stitches (grimace). I am off work this week, so at least I can remain at home and worry over them...

Their poor little bald parts!

I particularly sighed at the "keep them away from stairs" portion of the post-op take home instruction sheet. That's a tough one. They finally get big enough to do the stairs and then they have to be carried.

And then no bath for 14 days. With the loose stools, these "sponge baths" have been no fun at all.

Awww poor babies - and poor mom with the mushy packages. I sympathize. We've got that to look forward to next month. The rescue agreement says I have to have Tink spayed in January. Do you think that's too young? She seems so little yet - but she weighs 4 pounds now so maybe it's OK.

Do you think you could give them a little pumpkin to firm up those stools? The vet had me do that with Tink when I first got her but I don't know about after spaying/neutering.

I think they go by age, not so much the weight. Tucker is 3 lbs and Lucy's 6lbs. They are both 6 mos, though some vets will do them as early as 4 months- now that is too young to me! Really? Pumpkin to firm up the poop? From a can? How much? Today seems a little firmer, so I feel better. But just for future knowledge, that would be good to know.

Poor babies! Gracie is on day 8 after her spay, and all restrictions have gone into the trash. She broke most of the rules on day one. No harm done! Gracie sends Lucy and Tucker many well wishes!

ruger had his neuter on wednesday, and it doesnt't seem like he knows he even had surgery. They told me to keep him calm and no jumping for 2 weeks, they obiously don't know my little guy to well, because one day later he was back to his old tricks, i agree all rules went into the trash. I didn't give him any pain meds so he has not had any problem with BM's, he is 5 months old and weighs about 2lbs. i hope your babies are doing okay. I know that pumpkin can be high in fiber and make them poop more often, but i have never heard that it helps make it more solid.

Don't worry about 'yanking the stitches out'. Usually they heal very quickly and when I took Pepper in to remove his post-neuter stitches a few days ago, it took less than 5 sec...really. and he didn't even notice the whole thing...
