Could it be a bad tooth? When my poodle had a bad tooth, his breath was really foul.

I agree, the bad tooth... this happened to my cat(dont know if they are the same), we had the tooth fixed and the bad breath went away, instantly!

we just rushed him to the 24 hr vet.
He doesn't have a bad tooth, they did all the blood work and tried to see if anything is caught in his esophogus. couldn't find anything wrong with him

Except for a swolen gland. So they think its possible. But not likely causing all these symptoms. He has no infection. So we brought him home, he finally ate tonight.. wooohooo, he seems happier that he got food in his system.

If he gets worse, we have to get x-rays and go from there. lets hope its just the gland

Thanks everyone

abbie is so happy that "The Wook" felt like eating! Though, it still sounds like a tooth, to us, too.

really a tooth.. hmmm, well the vet didn't think it was a tooth. he's awake this morning and being his normal self.. He's eating right now.

He is still licking his mouth a lot, but his mouth didnt smell bad like it did last night.

wouldn't a vet know if it was his teeth??

Well yes, that's true. If you don't have a long good history with your vet, I agree that you may want to get another opinion.
Another thing to consider is that something may have been lodged in the little fellow's gums and was decomposing. That can also cause a fetid odor. But I would think your vet would have mentioned that Just keep a close eye on him and check that baby breath frequently for awhile. Poor little babies really need their mommies to watch over them don't they.

well, Wookie is doing much better. He is eating and drinking water like normal again. He is playing alot more, but he still seems tired often. But he is on some antibiotics and benedryl, for the tonsil and for any possible infection. The smell in his mouth is gone, and he's being rambunctious again.. so i think it's definitely a good sign
That was definitely a scare.. it's crazy how much you love these little guys

Glad to hear Wookie is feeling better and I hope ya'll figure it out soon or it passes. I had to laugh though because a couple weeks ago, Tatum had a nasty smell on her mouth too. I got curious and went walking around outside and found the culprit. Either one of our outside cats or our Aust. Shepherd (shoot, could have even been the Tater herself) caught and killed a mouse and it looked like it had been chewed on a bit. Hence the nasty roadkill smell on Tatum's mouth! YUCK! So, maybe, just maybe if you have a yard you should look to the outdoors for the answer. Probably not the case in your situation but thought I'd share that little tidbit!

Good luck!
