| Help me out please : ( Hi everyone, today my little Trixie's one eye is bothering her. It almost seems like she has a cold?? It's just the one eye though. Her eyes both water at times but nothing major. However, the eye is obviously bothering her. It's not open as much as her other one but its not shut either. Do you guys think I should run her to the vet or give it a another day? She isn't acting sick at all. Eating and playing normal. Any suggestions would be great : ) Is there anything I can give to her?? Thanks so much everyone.

| I would definitely take her to the vet. The eyes are definitely not something you want to play around with. It could be something as light as allergies to something or something more serious (Not to scare you). I would take her in right away, better to be safe than sorry. A lot of times we don't know that these little guys are sick because instintually they will not act sick, because in the wild that would attract potential predators. My girl NEVER looks/acts sick so I have to look out for little signs. I hope your baby feels better

| Do you have any SALINE eye drops? If so rinse her eye out, use a warm washcloth to wipe away anything in there. Bailey's eyes do this once in a while and it is usually from a stray hair in her eye, mine or hers not sure... Call the vets and see if they can get you in, in the morning if you need to take her. Bailey's eyes are usually fine by the next day, she also gets watery eyes from allergies in the fall/spring.

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Did you have her groomed recently and did they trim near the corner of her eye? Don't know where you live but tomorrow being thursday, many of the offices here will be closing at the end of the day tomorrow, till after Christmas. I always feel a visit to the Vet is reassuring and sometimes can be important. Hope she is better already and that it is all okay. Patti and Baby Blessing |

| Eyes, you do not want to mess with since you only have one set. I would take her in. Sounds like she scratched it and will need some drops. It will then clear up by the end of 5 days with the drops. Your vet can see if she has scratched it or not using water, drops and yellow stain. Best of luck. T. |

| P.S. Only the vet will be able to tell if she has scratched it doing the stain test. Let us know how she does. T. |

| Thanks everyone! I'll be calling in the morning. Wish they were open now. I kinda think she has a hair in there. I was looking in her eye and there was a long hair that I took out. Her eye is still looking funny so hopefully by the morning it will be better. If not, off to the vet we go.

| I think I Love Bailey had a good suggestion for the meantime until you can get to the vet (IF the problem persists). It is very possible that a stray hair has gotten into her eye and as a result it is watering more. Definitely open it up and see if you can see anything in there (you can usually see hairs under the light). Ruthie had a lacerated cornea once (about a week after I got her) and the first I noticed it, it was REALLY red and a little swollen and closed more than the other eye. You could tell it was really irritating her. I took her to the emergency vet (it was a sunday - the following day was a holiday - no way was I going to wait two days to see a vet). I took her in and the emerg vet diagnosed it as PINK EYE. They prescribed some drops and off we went. Next day, her eye is CLOUDED OVER and not any better at all! I continued with the drops, thinking it was the drops causing the cloudiness... as soon as I could, I took her to my regular vet. First thing they did was stain her eye and of course, it wasn't pink eye, she had a scratch in her eye - which was getting deeper. Apparently if you leave it, the scratch works its way down deeper into the tissue... can cause a great deal of damage. Anyways, just be sure to have her eye stained if you do take her in - I should have spoken up at the emerg, but I ASSUMED they knew what they were doing. Never assume. Ruthie could have ended up with a permanent blind spot in her eye because of this - BUT, my regular vet was fantastic and her eye healed up beautifully. Hope Trixie's eye is feeling better - just keep an eye on it - watch for redness, swelling, discharge, and watch for her trying to scratch at it as if it's itchy... all signs that you should get her in to the vet.
