| yorkie sick? Hi. Came home after work and my 2 year old yorkie 5 1/2 pound was shivering and seemed a little listless. She ate and slept with me. The shivering has stopped. I got her to eat warm chicken & stars soup to make sure she ate something easy on the stomach with chicken broth in it. She has no vomiting, no diarrhea, does not feel like she has fever, no signs of cold, no recent shots, etc. Only thing she may have possibly done is eaten some cat food, or problem from rawhide chewy. She is burping after she eats. She is stuck to me like glue and just doesn't seem to be herself? Only other time she has been listless is when I borded her while i went away for 2 days (then she did not eat , drink, poop, etc the whole time i was gone`so i can never go away again unless i take her along). My question is how long do i ride it out before she needs vet attention? Am I being paranoid/overprotective yorkie mom? Thanks, Joan & Bailey |

| Call the vet...Do you have a sweater to put on her? Maybe she got scared by something outside before you came home? I would take her in, a vet check is a small price to pay for your piece of mind. Hope she is feeling better soon.

| I hope she's okay! Be careful feeding her that soup also, it's got an awful lot of sodium in it for a Yorkie's tiny little kidneys. Once in a blue moon won't hurt

I agree and, I would also becareful with rawhide chews...they can get lodged in their throats and intestines...try bully sticks...they are made from beef tendons...totally digestible and good for their teeth...they can't break peices off either...I hope she is feeling better.

| I came out to a shivering dog. HE did not look well. I rushed him to the vet and he had fever. so watch out and take him to the vet if this behavior continues.

| Bailey Well she seems to be better. No more shivering, no other real signs of illness, and she has perked up. Maybe it was something scared her, but i think she did have an upset stomach. If she still seems to be a little out of sorts will get her into vet tomorrow for a check. Thank you to all for the advice. Also who sells the chews that are better than rawhides? Thanks again, and Happy Holidays to all. Joan & Bailey |

I bought mine at a local pet store. Alot of members give bully sticks to their furbabies..Maybe petsmart sells them? I'm not really sure but, maybe if you search bully sticks on the internet it will bring up stores that sells them...or you could buy them off line. OH! DON'T give greenies either...very, very bad!
