My pup is going under surgery today :( Yesterday morning I woke up and noticed Ted's face was all puffy, and when I picked him up he wouldn’t let me touch him. At first I thought his hair was just messed up until I touched and could feel the squishiness. I was a little concerned and people told me not to worry it was just a bug bite. So I go to work, and then come home at lunch to check on him. What I thought was just swelling at the time, had gotten bigger and now just under his chin was getting puffy as well. Then I called the vet, they told me to bring him in so they can give him something to reduce the "swelling". When I got to the vet they looked at him and found where he had been punctured. There was puss coming out of the side of his face. They were able to extract some fluid from it and saw that the entire side of his face and under his chin was filled with puss. They came to the conclusion that the 2 dogs were playing and he got bit by here and it got infected. Now he is going into surgery today and I am very scared. He's so small and I don’t want anything to happen to him.. they are going to have to make an incision on his cheek and pull 4 teeth. The vet thinks the teeth are making the situation worse. He has double teeth, the baby ones have not fallen out yet. But regardless, I am very worried about my baby

Update on Teddy I just got a call from the vet. He had to pull 6 teeth. He also had to shave the side of his face and he has stitches there with a small hole for drainage. I havent seen him yet. I dont get to see him for another 4 hours. I hope hes ok. He must be so scared. My other little one is walking around the house sniffing and crying looking for him.

Thanks for the update. I am glad he came through surgery just fine. Too bad about the teeth, but I'm sure he is pretty out of it right now. I would go buy a heating pad since they seem to have trouble regulating their temperature after anesthesia. Be sure and ask your vet for some pain killers to take home with you.

I just read this. I'm glad that Ted is out of surgery. I remember reading your posts about his bad mouth odor. This must have been so painful for him. Wishing you both a speedy recovery. Jessica
