| Question:Bathing after spade How soon can you bathe your furbaby after being spade? Shylah's incison is so small and looks good. She was jus spade Thursday the 2nd. Her fur is so greasy looking. I want to bath her so bad! When do you think it will be safe? The vet said 10 days! I can't wait that long!!

| I was told by my vet that I wasn't able to give Lady a bath until the stiches came out....but in the meantime you can clean her up a little with a damp towel or use those doggie wipes that they sell....just made sure you don't go near her stiches...I hated not being able to bath Lady that whole time she looked so raggy looking...lol |

| she does have the stiches that dissolve, so I don't need to go back to the vet to have them removed. When I bathe her I don't stick her in the bathtub or submerse her in water. She just stands in the kitchen sink while I spray her down. I wonder if I pat dry her incision really good, if that would be okay? What do you all think?

| I think Toto's bath had to wait about two weeks also ... stitches came out in 10 days. We just used lots and lots of wipies! Can't stand that "doggie" smell. Good luck! Just saw your post .... I, personally, can't see what it would hurt as long as she isn't submerged. As long as her incision is good and dry and perhaps cleaned a little with an alcohol wipe. I believe I would give a quick call to the vet just to be sure.

| im not sure what the reason is to why you have to wait to bath them after but there must be a good reason otherwise the vet wouldnt of said to wait, i personly would wait just incase it does affect the stitches as they are ones that desolve and if something does go wrong how would you feel? hope she heals soon

| Where do you get these wipes? I might just wash her face over the sink. That is really all the stinks and looks bad.

| There are also several "dry bath" sprays you can use that work really well. I sell some on my website called "dry dog" and I think you might be able to find some at petsmart.

| I waited the full 10 days. Remember this is a "major" operation and they do cut into their little bodies...... Sophie was so happy (me too) to have a bath after 10 days. I am now glad I waited. I groomed her is other ways. Such as washing her face gently, brushing her softly and we had some great bonding time there.

| We had to wait for 2 weeks as well - a very long, smelly 2 weeks! We did have to clean her incision daily though with cotton dipped in warm water. Seemed odd to clean the incision but not the dog. We all survived just fine though
