Default Alfie not eating.... HELP!!

My little boy is not eating anything I try to give him. His stomach is rumbling like crazy. He has been like this since yesterday. Today he is shaking every so often and its not cold. He's between 10 and 13 and has a heart condition and I can't get him to take any food to take his tablets. I have an appointment with the vet tomorrow morning at 10:30. Its the only time I can take him as I live in France and need the English speaking vet. Any ideas?? I have tried his usual dog food, a different brand of dog food, beef sticks (which he normally can't get enough of), chicken...... he won't even eat his doggie choccie drops.

He also gets very disorientated from time to time and wobbles and walks into things. I have spoken to the adoption charity I got him from and thay made the appointment for me and said try not to worry too much but I can't help it. I've only had him 2 months.

I'm sorry your baby isn't feeling well.

I know these little babies can't go that long without eating. Have you tried cookin him some chicken and rice? I might also give him some honey or karo syrup for energy. He really needs to be seen ASAP. I might even get him in sooner English speaking or not. I used to live Japan and needed to use a non-English speaking clinic several times, it always seemed to work out.

I will definately be saying a prayer for him.

Poor little guy, I'm so sorry he isn't feeling well. I hope it is nothing serious. I'm sending prayers for you and and your baby and hope the vet can get him better quick. I'm no expert, but I agree with myteddybear about getting some Karo or honey into him asap. Hugs to you both.

Do you have by any chance something like 'beano' in the house? It might help for the stomach rumbling. Besides that, honey or karo or even sugar water will help him keep his blood sugar level up. Prayers go out for his fast recovery!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats "beano"? He drank some water with honey and ate a small piece of beef stick with his tablet hidden inside. I am boiling some chicken with rice for him now. Fingers crossed......

Thank you all for your help and kind words.

I don't want to scare you but if he is not eating, shaking and is disoriented that is not good signs. If you have nutri cal in the house give him two dabs of it, and see if he stops shaking. Or like someone else said karo syrup, I would seriously have him looked at by a vet asap. This breed is very fraigile and prone to different illness. My Gucci had liver shunt and she had some of the symptoms that you mentioned. But thats not to say that is your case, Keeping you in my thoughts and hope all turns out well.Keep us posted....

Boiled skinless chicken is very easy on the stomach. You can add cooked white rice if you need to firm up his stools. Definitely continue to give Karo (corn syrup), Nutrical, Nutristat, or honey. You can add it into his water, but he becomes really lethargic put it in this mouth.

Beano is an anti gas medicine like Gas-X - any product with simethicone will help the rumbly tummy and relieve the gas pains. They even have an infant formula in the baby department. I have given it to one hour old Yorkies with no problems and it quickly relieves any discomfort from gas.

Sorry for not updating sooner. I got him to take honey in water, he seemed to like it. He also ate a little boiled chicken with rice last night. He seems to be perkier this morning but still not himself. He is due to see the vet in an hour and a half.

As for "beano" couldn't find any. Living in France can be difficult sometimes as some things are just unavailable.

Thanks to all of you for your support. I will update when we get back from the vet.

Just back from the vets. Afie had a blood test done for liver, kidneys and diabetes and they are all fine. He has however got a something wrong with his lungs. The vet said he could hear some abnormal noises. He's given him a couple of injections and I have to take him back tomorrow. He said to try and feed him a little this afternoon and see how he goes.

Thanks again to all of you and I'll keep you updated.

Thanks for the update. I am glad all the blood tests came out well so all now you have to do is clear up his lungs - did he say it was like pneumonia? Keep giving Karo (preferably Nutrical if you can get it there) until he's eating normally again.

Alfie has started eating reasonably well again. Though he does still get disorientated and wobbly, which ends up with him walking into things and falling over..... any thoughts on this? he's still coughing too.

Alfie has a lung infection. he's been given some antibiotics and vet said see how he is on Monday, if he's still not completly back to normal take him back. As for the disorientation, wobbling and falling over he said its possibly epilepsy. We have to monitor how many times it happens and for how long. poor little boy....
