| Sick yorkie Kidneys' Shutting Down Our yorkie that's only 2 years old, Macy yesterday we had to take her to the vet b/c she was very lethargic. She had no energy and as we know how Yorkies are they are full of energy. She had pooped all over herself, and it had blood in it. Vet said she had a bacteria infection and gave her a shot and some antibiotic. That night she messed on herself again, and got lifeless...vet said she was going into shock, so we rushed her to the vet...they gave her some fluids and some other injections and morphine for her pain. We stayed up all night with her and thought she was getting better just weak. We took her back to the vet this morning for bloodwork, and found out there was a lot of bacteria and toxins in her body and that her kidneys were already starting to shut down. Her level on her kidney's were 90, whereas the doc said norm was 30. Shes in the hospital now getting iv's....we're hoping for a miracle. SHe's only two and our baby. Anybody every experienced something like this? |

| God bless your little baby! Prayers going up for her that she will get well soon! I wish I had answers for you, but you're doing the best thing by letting the vet handle it. Good luck

| No experience there, but I'll be praying for your little Macy. I hope the vet can get her kidneys working again. Poor baby. Prayers and hugs to you both.

| No warning signs at all, that's what we cannot figure out. I don't know if it's bacteria, genetic, or what. She was fine the night before, and yesterday this is what happens......thanks to everyone for your caring. |

| Oh, how VERY scarey. I will pray that she pulls through. One thing that may start shutting the kidneys down is grapes or raisens. Did she even by accident get any? Please let us know how she is doing. |

| Update Thank you guys for your care and concern on Macy. I just called the vet today and they said that they had given Macy a round of IV and that she was now sitting up looking at the nurse. That doesn't sound like a lot and I'm not tryin to get my hopes up but to me that's a start. This morning she was lifeless and now she's sitting up. I hope this is a start to recovery for my little baby who will be two next month. Thanks guys. Ashley |
